Leona POV
Running from shadows in the night. They run after me, footsteps like feathers, light and silent. My tiny legs in excruciating pain, my lungs throb from running more than I can take, my eyes burning from the waterfall of tears and horror, my face covered in a mist of tears and sweat. They run... closer and closer and closer until...I wake up from my nightmare drenched in sweat. I shook my head, trying to calm my heart thumping in pain and fear. Another memory... I thought, wincing with my hand clutching my chest. This is why I don't sleep anymore.
I abandon the thought in of my head as I wiped my forehead, ridding it of the cold sweat that laid there like how a cold cup of water would have on its sides. I stare up into the starry night sky with a saddened expression until a voice made me jolt up in surprise.
"Hello~" a feminine voice hummed in my head. A squeak escaped my mouth as the voice's sound bounced in my head, echoing.
Straightening my composure and collecting myself, I asked; or more like thought a question. "Huh, who's in my head?" My voice echoed in my mind, a sensation that felt weird and new making my body shake for a split second.
For a second nothing happened and I started to think that I was going crazy from living alone. At least until the voice spoke again. "A friend who must tell you..." The voice paused, letting silence fill my head for a moment. Once again, her voice started to speak. "Go to receive your grimore." For some odd reason, I felt like the voice was somewhat smiling.
I closed my eyes and let my mind do the talking. "What? But, I'm not of age..." I said with distrust lacing my tone.
"Trust me chlid, there you will start your journey!" Her voice cheered. I felt my lips tug into a smirk at that childish cheering.
"For what? The end of the rainbow? A pot of gold??" I thought sarcastically.
I heard the voice sigh from the exhaustion of dealing with me. "I am not a leprechaun... just listen to my advice." It replied.
I felt my brows furrow and my face turn into a scowl. "Why? I don't even know who or what you are." My tone becomes darker. You know what people say, don't talk to or follow strangers. But then again, people say some stupid stuff like "life is as sweet as candy" when life sucks ass and tastes like dirt.
She chuckled. "I am Luena. That is my name." As I listened to her voice, I noticed it was smooth and gentle like a lullaby, which did not help my case of not trusting this whatever thing in my head.
I tilted my head, my eyes still closed. "What?" I said questionably. It was a nice name but still kinda strange compared to other names I've heard of.
"It's Angelic for 'light'." The voice explained.
I lifted a brow in confusion. "But it's dark in my head, your name makes no sense!" I argued.
"SHUSH! Enough child's play, just please listen to my advise, Leona." She snapped. The voice must be starting to find me annoying.
"HOW DID YOU KNOW MY NAME?!" I mentally gasped.
"DAMNNIT!! I'M DONE, GOODBYE!!" The voice yelled in frustration, the loud volume echoing in my head.
Soon, it grew silent in my head. I was alone once again with my own thoughts. Although I had been teasing the voice, I liked her company and enjoyed our little conversation.
Huh, she had less tolerance than I thought... but I might listen to her. She seems trustworthy... for now. I thought pleasantly to myself.
Without another thought, I continued to gaze up at the stars, wondering who the mystery woman or thing was.
