Asta's POV
I see Leona stop the moment the icy dart hit her. She fell the ground with a loud thump. She was motionless and silent. It made my body freeze to see her on the cold soil.

Blood pooled around her.

"L-Leona..." I chocked out as tears streamed down my cheeks.

She still didn't move, she didn't even stir.

"Leona!!" I ran to her side, eyes burning, throat tight.

I lifted her to see blood spilling from her face around where her hair covered her eye. With trembling fingers, I tenderly moved the hair behind her ear to find...

The knife lodged inside her left eye socket. Blood dripped off the edges making it seem she was crying blood. Her usually peach-like skin was pale, her lips were light blue, and just the slightest touch of her skin sent shivers down my spine from how cold she was.

Tears ran down my face faster in a river. I balled up her robe in my fist, pulling her closer. Leona was limp in my arms. I hear Noelle gasp, but my eyes were locked on the frozen girl in my arms. She was cold, cold as ice. As I pulled her closer, something made my heart stop in an instant the moment I noticed.

She wasn't breathing.

I was frozen in terror. She wasn't breathing. On her first mission, she could die. Or, worse, she already is. My breath came out short, ragged and uneven.

"Oh," the man broke the silence in the air. "I thought she would've put up a fight against death, but I thought wrong."

I gritted my teeth. How could he just brush her off like she was nothing? She was a living, breathing person. She had her whole life ahead of her. Most importantly, why didn't I move to help? I could've blocked the ice shard and saved Leona, she would still be breathing and fighting along side me. But, no, I had to stand there nailed to the ground.

How could've I let this happen to her?

I gently laid her on the ground, fists balled up so tight my knuckles turned white. Her bun-like ponytail was messy and locks of it were scattered across her face and ground and soaked in blood. I stood up with my sword in hand and eyes flickering with hatred and anger. My grip tightened around the handle as I gave him a sharp glare.

"You-" I paused to look at Leona again. She looked so peaceful. The whole time she was in the church she said she wondered what death was like. Now, she'll know, because this man had to kill her. "You are going to pay for this,"

The man let out a sigh. "Be done with him in a timely mannor." He said.

"I PROMISE TO AVENGE HER!!" And with step I jumped into the air to slice the man in half.

Leona POV
I felt nothing.

Completely and utterly nothing.

The pain disappeared as fast as it had came.

I could see nothing.

I was consumed in darkness. It was black and empty, as far as I knew there could be a horrible beast in the dark abyss that wants my flavor in it's mouth.

I tenderly touched my eye. It was like it had never been damaged. Nothing was lodged in it, nothing was spilling from it, it was just... normal. A normal, see through eyeball that I could see through obviously. Well, not really obvious because last thing I saw was that ice shard heading to my left eye and a dark red blinding it.

I felt like I was floating in the air. Once I looked down I saw I was floating. There was no ground; unless it was also black which is an odd color. Maybe I was in my mind and it was just empty. Maybe I needed to fill it up with some thoughts.
