Leona POV
It's been a week since I woke up. They finally allowed me out of my room for some air. They seemed to be more alarmed and cautious when I was around. Always looking around me, guiding me room to room, it made me feel like I was royalty or something and that made me feel somewhat uncomfortable. Even when I was only carrying a plate they would ask if it was too heavy, especially Finral and Asta. They treated me more important that the royal Noelle Silva herself. As I walked about, or more like wobbled about, I felt more weary about my surroundings without me being asleep or fighting Luck like I used to before the incident. I saw how beautiful the trees were and the sweet scent of grass filling my nostrils. The chirps of the birds were music to my ears, soothing my mind and making problems melt away into the dark abyss containing my negative thoughts and urges.
I was barefoot and the grass between my toes felt nice. The sweet sensation of water dew on my toes and the grass like cushioning beneath my feet. The cool air hit my face, sending indescribable emotions through me. I usually felt emotionless and plain, but ever since I had meet those orphans, my life had changed. I shared my own, I smiled a little more, I cared.
I cared.
Before I could finish my thoughts, a voice bellowed, "Leona, it's time for grub!!"
I rolled my eyes as I glared at him. "For once, I'm trying to relax and you ruin it, Yami."
Yami laughed, "Good, now come on, before your foods gone!"
I quietly chuckled as I turned around.

"No way you're going!" Asta yelled.
"Why the hell not!?" I shot back.
"You could die this time, that's the hell!!"
I clench my fists. "Asta, you better let me go before I turn your scrawny ass into a pancake!!" I rested a hand on my grimore, already illuminating in green. A low growl escaped from my throat as I grinded my teeth.
He did the same thing. He gritted his teeth and clenched his sword.
"I've finally learned controll... kinda," I mumbled the last part. "So I will shoot you out of that wall if I have to!"
I narrowed my eyes at him as he was about to lunge at me before a shrill voice stopped us from continuing. "Asta! She could still be in bad health, so don't fight her!" Noelle complained, he voice in a high, noticeable whine. She put her hands on her hips and glared at both of us, her glare was almost unbearable. She's getting better at being intimidating. Nice.
"Awe, come on, Noelle, I've been cooped up in this hell hole and I want some adventure!" I flailed my arms up in the air, surprising myself with my lips forming in a pout. She glared harder at me and I sighed as I threw myself onto the couch. I crossed my arms and my eyes fell to the ground. "I just feel so-" I paused as I pulled my knees close to my chest. "left out and useless."
I was telling the truth. From the bottom of my stone-cold heart, I wanted to tell them how I felt, which I rarely do. I felt a unusual closeness to this squad, no matter what I said and did they always stayed by my side.
"And I hate being idle and kept away from action." I grumble.
I felt their eyes staring into my soul, their stares burned into my skin making me feel like I was crawling with bed bugs. The room was quiet for a moment. The sound of the trees bristling and the sweet smell of nature blew into my face out of the open window, making me take a deep breath in to take in the wonderful aroma.
I sighed deeply, finally letting my tense muscles relax and let my shoulders slowly move downwards. "Fine, whatever. You guys can go possibly kill yourself with that action-crazed lunatic," I slump down, my legs slipping down the cushions. I dug my face into my sweater. "Not like I care." I mumble.
Suddenly, a high pitched voice pipes in. "No worries! You can come along, it'll be a lot of fun with all those traps!"
I jolt up, my eyes craving to see real traps. "R-Really, I can come!?" I noticed the excitement in my tone and sheepishly sat back down. "But, Yami would kill me if I go," I complain with my normal cool voice to hide my disappointment.
"As I said, no worries! I'll take care of him, 'kay?" Luck smiled widely, his fists on his hips and an assured look on his face.
At that moment, I felt like my body became lighter and a wide smile propped itself onto my glowing face. I couldn't believe my ears. He said traps! That could be fun along with all that treasure in there. Maybe there even could be some spells put upon the dead and they try to kill us! My mind raced with so many ideas of the place. I didn't need to see it to be able to imagine what it looks like.
I've already had my share of theiving.
I let the smile stay as I said, "Hell yeah! Imma go get my robe!" I rushed to my room and dug through my piles of junk. I finally found my robe and threw it over my shoulders and buttoned it. I looked over at the mirror and saw something I never bothered to notice.
Me.
I looked so weird. My hair was up in a neat bun-like ponytail, my ragged pants were now clean and looked new, then my face. I always hatted the way I looked. With my soulless brown eyes, my big lips, and curved jaw. I slowly let my index trace along my jaw to my cheekbone to my lips then to my eye patch. I let my finger linger there for what felt like an eternity. I never noticed how much I grew. Last time I saw myself I was so stubby with my chipmunk cheeks. Now my cheeks were normal and flushed pink from the rush over. I had to admit, damn I looked good.
But, I'll always be just the street rat that has never learned to love. The more I looked over myself the more I saw my mom. It made something ach in my chest. My eyes like a swirl of hazel brown, my hair like her dark chocolate hair, my lips naturally red and plump like her's. All I could see was my mom in me. No wonder I stopped looking at myself. Geez.
I heard a voice call down, "Hurry, before we leave without you!!"
I turned my head to shout back to Luck, "Imma comin', Imma comin'!"
I glanced back at the mirror one final time before I would leave. The sight of myself sent shivers down my spine. Without another word, I turned back to the hallway and quickly slammed the door shut, one question lingering in mind.
Gomen for the short chapter!!
