Leona POV

As me and Asta walked towards a clearing to train, a feminine voice echoed within my head. "So, you've finally evolved and grown into a young woman..." Luena chuckled, giving me the feeling she was smiling.

"Yeah, I guess." I smiled to myself as I thought while looking at Asta. "A certain person changed me. But that's what he does to everyone with his presence." I thought pleasantly.

I hear Luena let out a giggle. "You really have. Look beside you!" Luena said excitedly. I looked to my side to see Asta smiling stupidly then my eyes trailed down to our connected hands. "And he has done an exceptional job being able to let you trust others again." She said fondly.

I stopped in my tracks. Pulling Asta back with my sudden movement. He turned around with a worried look. "Something wrong?"

I lifted one of my hands to my head. "I uh..." I pulled my hands away gently and kissed Asta on the cheek. "I need to do something real quick, that's all. I'll meet you in the clearing, okay?" I assured him with a smile.

Asta nodded. "Okay, just get ready to get beaten!" He snickered with a grin before he ran off towards the clearing.

I sighed and set myself down on the grass, crossing my legs before thinking again. "Do you mean to say that this whole time, that's why you're here?" I thought, quite puzzled at my situation. "Wait a damn minute, this whole time you could've helped me through some stuff because you WERE able to hear me when I called your name!!" I angrily thought.

Luena sighed. "I only talk and answer when it is absolutly imparaitive." I closed my eyes before she spoke again. "Like how I am able to allow you to see me when necessary."

Before I could understand what was happening the once pitch black of the back of my eye lids had a figure of a woman in a flowing ivory green and white dress. I tried to open my eyes but it felt as if they were already open, at least until I realised I saw my hands and my floating body.

I gasped as I flailed in the air. "WHAT!?" I exclaimed in surprise, my voice echoing. I then noticed my voice came from my own mouth. "Where are we, how the hell are we here!?" I freaked out, continuing my panicked flailing.

The womanly figure floated to me and grasped my shoulders. "Calm down, just focus." Her voice was familiar. Similar to Luena's.

Wait a second.

"HOLY SHIT, LUENA!?" I shouted with my face in permanent shock.

I looked up and down Luena's figure. She had long, curly hazel hair with a few locks of green hair mixed in. Her face looked young, around her twenties and her eyes were a dark red speckled with black. I had to admit, she looked stunning.

Luena's face showed no amusement as she shook her head. "Yes, Leona?" She said, sounding annoyed.

I grabbed her cheeks and pulled her face towards mine to get a better look. "What are you!?" I said as I looked over every little detail of her face. "Like a spirit or somethin'? That's what you look like with this calming style you got going on!"

"That is exactly what I am, and please do not touch me." She let out an exasperated sigh as she pulled my hands away and took a step back. "I am a nature spirit. And I have become quite fond of you, mostly because you looked so much like your mother." She smiled.

My body tensed up the moment Luena mentioned my mom. "M-my mom?" I couldn't believe it. She knew my mom when she was alive.

"I was her nature spirit for a while." Luena smiled fondly at her memories. "At least, until the accident. I was heart broken, your mother was like a sister to me. She would always tease me and scold me like one." She wiped her eyes as tears started to fall.

Luena took a breath then continued. "I just wanted to feel her through you but, you really are not like her in anyway other than in looks." She smiled sadly. "But, now I'm attached to you so you're stuck with me until you die."

"Wow, way to ruin the moment." I deadpanned.

Luena laughed wholeheartedly. "Before I let you go, just know this," She put her hands back on my shoulders and looked me in the eyes. "Your mom loved you with all her heart and talked about you with no end. It was not your fault. You were just a child, you did not know any better than to run."

My eyes widened and tears suddenly spilt out of my eyes non-stop. When I blinked one last time, I opened my eyes to a forest. I was back in reality but my eyes still watered as I replayed what Luena said back to myself. She said my mom loved me and that it was not my fault. My mom talked about me all the time. I didn't know any better. I was just a kid.

The tears fell faster and came heavier. I started to sob, restraining my urge to cry loudly.

It wasn't my fault.

After a while I wiped my eyes and stood up with a smile. "Thanks, Luena." I thought, knowing she would hear.

"Of course." Luena replied.

I rubbed my eyes one last time before I walked towards the clearing were Asta waited for me. Now nothing stood in my way. I was ready for my future with the Black Bulls Magic Knight Squad, expecting the unexpected.

Finally, my shackles linking me to the past were broken allowing me to see past it all all and only see my future. For once, nothing held me back and I had friends to depend on. I was no longer alone, because I had the Black Bulls as my family and I had Asta.

I am finally, genuinely free.
