The Next Day
When we finally arrived in Belize we were tired and wanted nothing more than to sleep. We didn’t even want to take in the scenery, but rather enjoy each other’s company. The Turtle Inn was a paradise that seemed like it only existed in TV. Ironically Francis Ford Coppola the famous director and his wife owned the small 25 room inn with three restaurants and a spa. We were walked by the bell hop to a thatched cottage that was all our own and we were so close to the sea that you could smell its foam from our front windows. There was so much to do; bicycling, fishing, snorkeling, swimming in one of the two pools, but we would get to that tomorrow. Our cottage was the very last one so it sat off a ways by itself.
“Okay my good people here we are.”
“Thanks, here is something for your trouble, and you can be on your way,” I said to the bell hop that was staring a little bit too hard at my wife.”
“Yes sir thank you very much,” he said pocketing the 20 I gave him, and slowly making his way down the beach. I took the key he had given me and opened door.
“Come on mi lady,” I said reaching for Navette.”
“Oh, I’m your lady now; I’m not mama no more?”
“You are always gonna be mama, but as long as we are here you are my lady.”
I scooped her up and walked into the cottage. We were kinda awestruck by the interior of the cottage. The doors and the furniture was all hand carved. I sat her down on the king size bed with the Moroccan silk sheets. This was much better than a hotel room. Navette was being lazy lying on the bed, but I wanted to explore so I walked out back to meddle, and we had a private garden as well as an outdoor shower. I was definitely gonna put to put that to use later. I went back out front and grabbed our bags.
“Hey bae I’m gonna call and check on—“
I was interrupted by her snoring. I just shook my head and took of her shoes. I knew we had only been gone a few hours, but I wanted to check on my baby so I called mama.
Me: Hey ma I was just—
Nadine: You were just checking on your baby I know. She is fine Leroi.
Me: Sorry ma we just never been away from her.
Nadine: I know baby its okay, trust me she is with me and the Lord so she is in good hands. Speaking of which where is my baby; I don’t hear her talking.
Me: It’s a wonder you don’t hear her snoring because she is callin the hogs over here for real.
Nadine: (Laughing) Boy you are crazy. Look I think Shay wants a bottle so I gotta go. Yall go head and enjoy yourselves.
