Lyric of life

First impression

        It was 2 AM. I got up from my bed and searched my water bottle to drink some water. All the bottles were empty ,so I opened the door and walked towards the aqua guard in the corridor. When i opened the door it was dark, not even one room was lit. I stood before the machine and filled the bottle. Suddenly I heard thara call my name. I walked towards the direction from where the sound came. But wait.. then who was the one sleeping in the bed? I stepped in to check whether it was thara. She was peacefully sleeping in the bed. Then whose voice was that? I stood there thinking. I was about to wake her up when I was interrupted by a phone call. I took the mobile from my wallet and to my surprise I found thara's name flashing on the screen. At first I thought that someone was misusing her mobile but i had a heart attack when it was in the desk. I just starred at my mobile screen without knowing what to do? Should I attend Or reject? Or wake her up? My hands were shivering and I was confused a lot.
      I suddenly got up from my bed and sat there looking like i was already haunted. I shivered when I heard the same ring tone again, and turned to find that it was my alarm tune. I switched it off and just diverted from the dream and concentrated on both the girls who was busy getting ready.
"I think someone had a very gud sleep" thara smiled at me through the mirror.
"Yeah that was awesome especially because of you" I smiled back.
She was confused at my answer, but never minding she came towards me and pulled me out of my bed.
"Can you just stop your stupid stories and get ready" she pleaded.
"Okie I will" I said and went to take a shower.
   
       It was 9.10 am and all the freshers were seated in the auditorium. The hall was so noisy and fully filled with students from different parts of the world. We could hear hello's and hai's and students started introducing themselves to each other. We three occupied a seat at the back and there I continued explaining my dream to Thara and Navi.  Once I finished narrating I found a staff on stage, she greeted us with a good morning and introduced herself and started explaining us the rules and regulations of the management. After the speech which lasted for jus half an hour we were asked to disperse to our respective classes.
     We took our bags and started walking in search of our classroom. It took about 2 minutes to find my classroom. It was in the second floor. We entered the class and occupied the third bench, students slowly started occuping and every bench was filled. Suddenly a group of seniors entered the class and started introducing themselves. One senior named Vinodh came forward and explained us why they were here. They have planned to gives us some surprise. Everyone was eager to know what it was.
"Is it something like ragging or what?" i asked Navi who was sitting beside me.
"No idea" she replied with her eyes fixed to the senior guy.
"Do you guys have your roll numbers?" the senior asked looking all of us.
"No brother" came the reply as a chorus especially from the girls side.
"Then do one thing all of you take a piece of paper and write your nick name  fold it and give it to me, i will pick a sheet from that and there is a surprise at the end" he said.
Everyone did the same. I tore a piece of paper and wrote "dev", folded it properly and gave to the boy who was collecting the sheets.Though it was not my nick name, I wrote it because that was my dads name and I felt that was lucky for me. Once everyone finished, the senior shuffled all the papers and then called another guy from the gang and told him to take one. He came forward smiled at seeing him,and took a sheet from the table and called out "dev".
I felt happy but still one thing made me worry, what if they rag? "should i go?" i asked thara, when he saw me and said "please come forward" i stepped out and started walking towards him. To my surprise i heard boys shouting, howling and whistling "They called my name and what is making them so excited?" I thought to myself and stood near the senior guy wondering what would be the end. I found another guy coming forward, he starred at me and his mannerisms proved that he was confused the same way i am. When i turned towards the senior i found that he was also in the same condition. The whole class didnt know what was going on and they started talking with each other.
"I called out dev" the senior said looking at both of us.
"yeah thats my name" we both repeated
I gave him a wicked look, he was fair, slim, handsome, he looked perfect in his ironed white shirt which was neatly tucked in, any girl would fall for him at the first sight. I was sure that girls in that room were starring at him like he was a prince, but for some reason i hated him.
"Whats your name?" he starred  at me like he was going to eat me.
I turned to the other side and said "Aadhya Dev".
"And whats your name?" the senior guy questioned him.
"Adhev Krishna" he turned, looked at my face and reacted like he was the king of the universe. He did not stop with that "How can a girl have dev as her nick name?" He questioned me.
"Shut up, Thats my wish" i shouted at him.
"you are a girl right?" his eyes was exactly like a bow so sharp that i feared it would kill me.
"Can you guys stop for a second?" the senior tried to calm us down.
"Just tell me whose handwriting it is?" he handed over the paper to me and it was his handwriting.
He grabbed the paper suddenly from my hand and then said "Thats mine, so that means you can leave now Understand"  he shouted at my ears.
I walked past him and sat in my place. Only the students in the front row came to know what happened even Navi and Thara couldnt understand half of our conversations, because the class was noisy. They kept on asking me what happened which i promised, i would definitely tell them in the evening. The senior guy then apologized for the time lag and then he said that they would conduct the secretary election every year in this way. And he also announced that as a result of today's game Adhev has been selected as the Secretary of chemistry department. I just turned towards navi who gave me a different look and told "He doesnt even deserve it". I didnt have any other comments and moreover i didnt want to speak about that. I just diverted myself from thinking about it and we started discussing about the latest films and its reviews.
     It was lunch and i was lying on the table with my earphones on.  We were informed that we would have classes in the afternoon. Listening to lectures that too on the very first day would be really boring, so we shifted to last before bench. Navi and Thara had gone to buy lunch for us and i was listening to music and scrolling my text messages.
"Hy I'm Aadhi. May i know your name?" a guy from the last bench asked me.
"Aadhya" i tried to be nice, but i didnt want to speak with him because he was dev's friend.
"your nick name is dev?" he asked me softly, making sure that i was not hurt.
"Yeah thats my dad's name and its my luckiest too" i replied him and turned front since i didnt want to discuss much about this.
I saw Navi and Thara coming towards me, they throwed me a how-could-you-do-this look when they saw me talking to him. They sat near me and greeted Aadhi with a formal hy and exchanged their names. And then the long introduction part started, 3 boys from the back and we three decided to have our lunch together. These 5 just sat parallel and started speaking like they were thick friends who has come for a reunion. I kept my mouth shut because i didnt want my enemy's friends to know that i was a talkative,naughty and a friendly type girl, I wanted to retain my self respect. But what, look i was in the first day of my college and it has just begun and i had a enemy now. Beyond that ,speaking with these guys didnt seem to be a nice decision for me because i did'nt want to come around dev and give him chances to degrade me. The lunch was over but these guys was not ready to stop their stories, i decided to just sit with them and hear all those rubbish talks about themselves. The talk continued and i felt like a kid in a seminar hall. Suddenly a shadow fell on me and i turned to look who was standing beside me and atlast ended up regreting for what i've done. Adhev stood beside in a confused face expression when he saw me and his friends having a chat together.
"Where the hell did you go?" Aadhi asked him with a killer look.
"Dont you guys know im the Secretary of the department i may have works" he looked at me and spoke like he was the king, i prayed god to let him know how disgusting it was to hear him speak like that. "I had my lunch, and guys we dont have class in the afternoon. Staffs are asked to attend a meeting" he said when the whole round-table-conference cheered up.
"Can we guys go to the cafeteria?" varun asked for which all the 4 nodded their head.
"I have to go to the department to handover this name list" Adhev said waving a paper in his hand.
"Mr.secretary you will have your works so we will never include you in our schedule, you can join whenever you want"  Aadhi teased him and i smiled for the first time.
      We six of them were seated in the cafeteria with our coffees infront of us.Harry was seated near me, "Im sorry for what happened in the class, he is such an idiot ,dont take it serious he is not even worth a fight" he told in such a manner that only i could hear,. I did not like the way he apologized for his friend's mistake but there was that one dialogue which made me smile "he is not even worth a fight" it was good to hear that. "Why are we guys so silent?" asked aadhi for which everyone was silent.
"Truth or dare" i spoke for the first time and thara smiled at me.
"I guess someone has come back to normal mode" navi teased me to which i gave back a slap.
Everyone agreed to play the game and i was asked to play first, now i was assigned to ask a question each either a truth or a dare. I started with harry who was sitting beside me since we were not so close i just asked questions about family, friends, dislikes etc,.next to harry was varun,I jus asked formal questions to everyone and the game went good, Now i was supposed to ask a question to aadhi "Truth or dare" i asked him suddenly he got a phone call. he excused himself and walked towards the entrance, we all waited for him to return so that we could continue the game, but what i saw made me think that i should quit. Aadhi came back with Adhev, he casually walked towards our table and sat near the empty chair placed next to aadhi, "il go with truth" aadhi said and broke my thoughts, i asked him a formal question and he  stopped when aadhi pointed out "next is dhev". I was in no mood to question him. His smiling face irritated me more and more, but still i started speaking "I want him to apologize" i said slowly looking at him. There was complete silence and then he started speaking "I'm sorry for behaving like that, forgive me it was my mistake". I was shocked to hear this-king apologize. Everyone took turns to play and different questions were answered, which made us know each other. After a long game we decided to leave.
