Chapter 07 – DAY 05 Part 2

“She’s trembling out of fear. She’s even crying and... And...”

            “And what?” the doctor asked.

I shook my head. I don’t know what happened next.

            “Everything else is blurry.”

“Dig into your memory. Remember what happened,” the doctor whispered.

She’s clearly disappointed for the disrupted climax of the story.

            I shook my head again.

            “Hang on there.”

Then, she started connecting the disrupted hypnotherapy.

“Take a deep breath. Now, forget whatever you’re thinking now,” she whispered. “Clear out your mind.”

I did what she just said. The scene started to fade until it was gone. Everything went pitch black

“Imagine yourself waking up with a view of the sky. You felt grass poking your hands as you tried getting up. You then found yourself on vast grassland. You started walking and began wondering where you are. Then before you knew it, you are on a slope of a hill.”

The view started to change. It went accordingly with the doctor’s description.

“Then, gravity seemed to pull you down and you began rolling. The adrenaline rush began coursing your veins. You regain consciousness and saw yourself from afar. You are with your friend Robert at the back of a car. Robert opened the trunk and you saw a girl inside. Curiosity made you walk closer to the car. What are two talking about?”

I cleared my throat.

“I began talking with Robert. I cannot make out of the sound. Everything is muted,” I said.

“Better have something rather than nothing. Now what can you see?” she asked.

“I can see myself shocked. I said something to Robert and he said something back. His face became red. I can say by the view that he is nervous about something. He went at the back seat and gets something. Then he showed me a Ziploc bag full of green stuff. Oh my God, it’s weeds.”

I felt my blood rushing through my head.

“So, the incident has something to do with drugs?” the doctor asked.

“I think so. We argued about something. Then, he took his phone out of his pocket. There was someone named Sam calling him. He walked in circles like a dog. I can say that this Sam is causing Robert trouble. Or maybe it’s the other way around. They talked about things and finally Robert went for the passenger seat. I went in and drove his car. And then...”

            “Then?”

“We’re already in an abandoned house. How did we get here? I am now confused.”

“This hypnotherapy method will just recall fragments, not every detail. Seems like the previous method doesn’t help at all.

Trying not to be distracted, I still got a hold of the scenario.

“Robert was carrying the unconscious girl inside. We went in the living area and he laid down the girl on a dusty and tattered sofa. He closed the curtains and turned on the lights. He sat on a chair and began crying.”

Suddenly, my head is like being pounded to pieces. It hurts like hell.

“Mr. Ricks, wake up. Wake up, Mr. Ricks?” the faint voice surrounded the deep silence.

What happened to me? Where am I?

“Lucas! Wake up,” somebody’s shaking me.

I opened my eyes and then I saw myself inside the doctor’s office.

            “What happened?” I asked.

“You passed out during the hypnotherapy. The tension and the stress that brought up must have been too much for you to handle,” she said.

I am still facing the door with my chair. I wondered where the voice is coming from. Then, I saw the doctor now back to her seat.

“Why don’t you first try facing your chair towards me,” she said.

            “Oh right.”

I stood up and turned my chair.

            “Aw,” I moaned.

“Here, have a glass of water and take this pill. This will help you at least with the pain on your head and leg,” she said.

I even forgot that I’m nursing a fracture during the entire session. I took the medicine and felt relieved.

“Why don’t we take a break? I’ll just be going out for a while,” she said.

I just nodded. I didn’t even look at her as she goes. I looked around and noticed that the blinds and the curtains on the window are now opened.

I rose up and slowly went to the window. The office has a view of the main entrance and the hospital’s parking lot where private cars and ambulances are parked. The office where I’m in now is probably on the fifth or on the sixth floor. The road which is just a few meters away is very calm. No cars or people seemed to pass by.

Then, a very weird thing occurred. The daylight outside turned to dark. The cars parked on the parking lot were gone. Then, the window I am viewing right now became shattered. And my hands are now covered in blood.

“What the hell is this?” I screamed in horror.

Then, in one snap everything is back to normal.

            “Thank God,” I sighed.

“Looking outside for a few meters away is a good exercise for the eye,” the doctor is back.

I looked back and there she was, already sitting comfortably on her seat. She put her eyeglasses back and opened her drawer.

“Do you wish to continue?” she asked.

I nodded and went back to my seat.

“Here, take this,” she handed me a soft small ball.

            “What’s this?” I asked.

“That’s a stress ball. That could be very useful,” she grabbed her pen and began writing on the piece of paper. “Just squeeze it often.”

I did. The soft ball is really relaxing.

“Now, let us use my final hypnotherapy method,” she said.

I shook my head. “I think I don’t need hypnosis anymore. I think my memories are back.”

            “Are you sure?” she asked.

            “Yes,” I answered.

“Begin as you wish,” she smiled.
