Groaning, I rush around the house, pulling on my ankle boots whilst I search for my school bag.

Today is Monday, meaning school.

Finn, Ayla, Jack and Malcolm all left early this morning to get ready for school, Ayla suggested that we should skip, though I disagreed, not wanting to get in any trouble, so now I'm late for school, I've never been late for school.

Once I find my bag, I quickly sling it over my shoulder, rushing towards the front door as I lock it behind me.

Seeing that my parents aren't here and that I missed the school bus, I have to walk. I don't mind, it's just, I have to speed walk in order to be on time for school. King Grey isn't far from my house, a ten minute walk, but school starts in five minutes meaning I should walk double the speed I usually walk in order to get there on time, and with my short legs that is nearly impossible.

Nevertheless, I begin walking as fast as I can, and after seven minutes [yes I timed myself] the school finally comes into view.

I'm two minutes late. Shit.

I hurry towards the front entrance of the school, making my way to my homeroom. I peek through the small window situated on the door of my homeroom, seeing everyone already seated, Ayla looking anxiously towards the door, propably awaiting my presence, but my eyes soon leave Ayla as I notice another figure behind her.

Finn.

He's in my homeroom.

Without another thought, I push open the door, cutting Miss Sanders' speaking short as I close the door behind me.

"Uh-sorry I'm late." I tell her, finding my situation very uncomfortable.

Miss Sanders gives me an unapproving look as she nods, "take a seat Maddie." She tells me sternly as I wander over to my seat, making eye contsct with a grinning Finn and Ayla as I roll my eyes at them, plopping down on my seat.

"It's not funny." I mumble towards them, only causing the both of them to chuckle, a smile forming on my lips.

"Miss Smith, can you tell me what is so funny?" Miss Sanders calls on me as I widen my eyes, immediately shaking my head, "uh-nothing." I tell her, with this she just purses her lips, continuing with her ranting.

"Maddie." Finn calls my name as I slightly turn to where he is sitting, "what?"

"Let me see your scedule." I quickly dig out Finn's request, handing over my scedule as he compares his to mine, smiling brightly as he hands it back.

"We have three subjects together, Chem, History and Biology." He whispers over to me as I return his smile.

"Guess we'll be seeing a lot of each other." I tell him, beaming, lowering my voice. Finn opens his mouth, but is cut short by Miss Sanders. " Maddie, detention after school. You're disrupting the class." I widen my eyes at her words, gulping slightly. I've never been in detention. Ever.

"Sorry Miss Sanders, it was all me, Maddie didn't do anything." Finn immediately takes the blame as I give him a look of confusion. I can't let him take the blame, I mean, I'm equally as guilty.

"No, it was me, not Finn." I speak up, Miss Sanders shaking her head, "both of you, detention." With that, she continues her ranting, obviously unsatisfied with Finn and I.

"It's not so bad." Ayla whispers from besides me, obviously noticing my shocked state. "I've never been in detention before." I confess, gulping slightly.

"Never?" Finn chimes in as I shake my head, "never." I confirm.

"You'll be fine Maddie, besides, Finn is there to keep you company."

Even though I've never had detention before, the thought of Finn also being there calms me slightly.
