If you've ever skimmed through the historical or fantasy list on wattpad, you've probably noticed quite a few Chinese novels listed. Maybe you skimmed right past. Or maybe you were curious and decided to check one of them out.
If it was the latter, you probably loved it and are here to find similar works. But if it was the first, you are probably here to find out what the big deal is about Chinese novels and why they are becoming increasingly popular.
I can't say the reason why everyone else likes them, but I can certainly speak for myself and others who may share my opinion.
The thing I like most about C-novels is that they are vastly different from other works I've read on both Wattpad and the published books in my town's public library. It's not just the fact that the characters look different and dress differently than the characters we're used to seeing in movies and books; it's also the concepts and customs that we don't find in most English novels.
Many of the Chinese novels I've read explore the theme of time travel, reincarnation, transmigration, and second chances. This genre is called wuxia/ xianxia because of the fantastical elements that come with it. (Correct me if I'm wrong about this)
The main characters in this genre are usually cunning, intelligent, badass, and beautiful. And not to mention many of the love interests are usually the powerful, cold type that only show an interest in the main character. But don't worry; there are nice guys, too. If that's the kind of stuff you're into, you'll love these books.
The thing about the translated novels is that a lot of them aren't completely translated yet. The translators update a chapter at a time like the authors on Wattpad do.
If you're going through the list of recommendations and see that I'm missing something really good, comment or direct message me. I either just didn't add the book yet or I'm seriously missing out on something that I and many other people might like.
To read some Chinese novels, here are some great sources to find them:
●Wattpad (obviously)
●Novel Updates (a great source and search engine for finding and keeping track of every Eastern Asian translated novel)
●WebNovel (a site/app that is very similar to Wattpad but has many translated and original novels that update as frequently as every day) Here's my invite link (in the comments too): https://acts.webnovel.com/2018/63659293/index.html#q2imf6IN Use it to get free spirit stones to unlock some of the top premium works.
●Tapas (a site/app for novels and comics) Here's my invite code: SPIC004X Use it to get free coins/ink for the premium works. Although its premium works have locked chapters, many of them have a wait-or-pay system that allow you to collect free episodes after a certain amount of time (a day at least).
