Jane was dating David (Agnes's father) because she loved him, and he loved her, well this is what everyone else believed. The relationship between the two was not the perfect love story that Jane and everyone else wanted.Behind closed doors, this couple was not a loving, caring relationship. The only person that knew what was going on with these two was Jane's sister, Lauren. At their weekly lunches, the two would talk, gossip and share information about life, which for Jane was to the point where she was worried for her life.
"You gotta leave him Jay, Jay! This has been going on for 2 years! I hate seeing you like this." Lauren sighed "you can't hide your bruises anymore, you get beaten and raped. I'm gonna tell someone." Jane grabbed her sister's hands and pleaded.
"Lauren, do not tell anyone. This is between David and I, he just... has some issues that's all. He loves me dearly, like I love him."
"No, Jane! Answer this for me: do you love him?"
"Yes of course I do and he-"
"Wait, but does he love you?"
"Umm... sometimes" Lauren started to tear up. She pressed her hand over her mouth, attempting to choke back the tears. She hated watching her sister suffer like this, and not realize what to do because her thoughts are blurred by love. But she didn't want to lose her sister trust.
"Do you know what would happen to me if I ran away from my love? I love him, I'm not leaving" Jane said, in a way starting to see the pattern of hurt.
She knew what she had to do, even if she didn't want to do it. Did he really love her? Or was she just a sex toy to him, just an object that he could abuse and destroy. She would never know. This was not a relationship built on love but one built on lies.
"Okay... I'll do it" Jane sighed, then said goodbye.
