That night, Jane went home, checked if David was there, which he wasn't, then started packing her suitcase. She packed her clothes, her favourite necklace that was her mother's that was passed down to her, her wallet and ID, and contemplated for 10 minutes the act of leaving her love. But in the end, she couldn't take it anymore.

As she was closing the suitcase, she heard foot steps, slowly coming towards her room. Her heart beating a mile a minute, she tried conjuring up an excuse that will explain why she was about to leave, but hopefully he will not lay a finger on her.

"Hey Jane, what are you doing awake?" It was Agnes. Jane's whole body just relaxed.

"Hey Hun, I forgot you were staying over tonight"

"And for the next two days as well"  What if she got hurt? This was the thought that changed everything, what if Agnes got caught in the crossfire? David has hurt her but what if Agnes becomes the victim?

"Well shit!" She was thinking out loud at this stage.

"Ok, its late at night and dad's out working late, why are you packing a bag?"

"Ok, I know that this might be abit confusing for you but... I'm leaving and I want you to come with me"

"Finally, I've been worried that you would chicken out! And yes, I would prefer to come with you" This girl was intelligent, very  intelligent. And has known about her father's abuseive relationship for along time now. She has felt unsafe for awhile but knew that Katherine would do something.

"Holy shit... how? wait, you know about that stuff? And why would you want to come with me?"

"I'm not an idiot, obviously not getting full custody of me after the divorce would have made my father angry, so I just assumed that he was abusive, also I can hear your fights sometimes from upstairs" Jane was stunned, what a smart kid. "And the reasons why I want to leave are pretty obvious, I have a negligent mother who forgets she has a daughter, an abusive father and no friends or social life. I'm very surprised you didn't know this already Kathy."

"Ok, when is David coming home?" Agnes then checks her watch.

"We have one hour and thirteen minutes",

and like that, they were gone.
