"I'm pregnant." My best friend stated.
"Wha- wha- what?!" I shrieked in shock.
Mina laughed at me, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Haha you should've seen your face Melissa!"
I face-palmed myself at my gullible-ness. "Haha," I said sarcastically. "Very funny. You just about gave me a heart attack!"
Still laughing at her own joke, she wiped away her tears and started blabbing about her newest boyfriend. Oh, I'm sorry, did I say boyfriend? I meant boy-toy. Mina's really sweet and kind, but she has a hard time with commitment. And sharing her feelings with her boyfriend is not one of her strengths.
I got pulled out of my thoughts when Mina tried to get my attention. "Hello...are you listening?"
I gave her a sheepish smile. She rolled her eyes. "Mel, you really need to stop spacing out like that. I mean what if I told you you were fat? You wouldn't even notice and I would be this constant bully in your life and you wouldn't even know!"
My once peaceful face falls into one of horror. "You said I am fat?!" I smacked my bestie on the arm as she laughs once again at my gullible-ness.
"Goodness Mel, you need to chill! You are so uptight sometimes! Anyway, there's a new kid in school... His name is Evan. He is absolutely gorgeous! Like, really. And I should know; he's my new neighbor." Mina stopped when she saw my face. "What? Melissa, you're pale! What's wrong, do you need me to pull over so you can puke? Do you need a daily dose of Starbucks?? What is it??" My friend ranted, panicking all the way.
I closed my eyes when I got ready for a response. "Mina, Evan is the name of the guy in from my dreams." I get out as calmly as possible. I opened my eyes and looked her straight in her eyes and asked, "does he wear black? Have gorgeous green eyes and a heart stopping smile?" I see her as she nods her head yes in confirmation. She grimaces and I start hyperventilating. She pulls over and rubs my back and using soothing tones she guides me back to normal.
Mina goes back onto the road and sighs. "Mel, you need to calm down. It'll be okay. I promise." She looks at me with a reassuring smile as she pulls into the school parking lot.
As we make our way to the front doors, I see him. Evan, dressed in all black was just looking intently at his phone, when he looked up and saw me. Not just looked at me. He saw me for who I am, just like every night I saw him.
He suddenly broke our intent eye contact and in a flash he was in front of me, disbelief clear on his handsome face. "Melissa??"
"Evan" I breathed out. I started to sway, my vision getting blurry. Evan caught me before my inevitable face plant. As soon as he touched me, I felt sparks go throughout my body, almost like there were fireworks running through my limbs and into my stomach. It was like a dream.
