I got to the bar, took a drink and sat down looking straight ahead, thinking about how bartenders have an incredible memory. I mean, if I were a bartender I'd be fired in my first day. Have you tried to memorize a million different drinks and how to make them? Yeah, it's very hard.
"Why do you keep avoiding me?" Valentine suddenly said, making me look at him.
God was he attractive. I mean, I would never have anything with him but that doesn't mean that I can't at least appreciate his beauty. He did have one advantage: he was veeery tall. I'm not gonna lie and say I don't mind height but there are some things that I just can't control.
He just started to smirk, probably thinking I was just checking him out. Great.
"I'm not avoiding you, Valentine. I'm just not interested in having anything with anyone. Including you." I simply said, staring at his crystal clear eyes with the most I Don't Care expression I could muster on my face.
"I don't know whats wrong with me." He suddenly said, making me look at him curiously. "I always get interested in the difficult girls. I mean, I could be interested in any girl but here I am in front of the only girl in this party that isn't interested in me." He said, making the cutest face.
"We accept the love we think we deserve." I said, spotting Sam in the crowd and walking to her.
"Hey Ocean!" She said as I gave her a smile. "There's some cute boy looking at you." She said smirking. Sam always tried to find me a boyfriend, even if I insist that I don't want one. At all.
"Does he have crystal, almost transparent eyes?"
"Yes!" She squealed.
"Yep, he's Valentine." I said, prepared to be bombarded with her questions.
"Hey girls" William suddenly said. "Me and the lads are playing never have I ever, come join us." He said while he snaked an arm around Sam's waist, who mimicked to me "This conversation isn't over."
I just rolled my eyes as I followed them, taking a sit next to Sam. There were some people that I knew sitting with us, but a lot of strangers.
"Hey Will! How are you mate?" I heard a familiar voice as I turned around and saw Will and Valentine doing that bro hugs-thing.
"I'm just fine and you? How's your mom?" Well, they definitely knew each other very well.
"She's fine, she's fine" Valentine answered as they sat in front of us.
Some girl who I think is called Rachel put a cup in front of everybody while she filled each one with shots. "Let the game begin!" She yelled. I looked at her, admiring her capacity to have so much energy.
We were already in round 2 when Valentine's turn arrived. He looked straight at me with this malicious smile as he said "I have never smoked a joint in the abandoned train tracks." Yeah thanks, Valentine.
I made a face at him as the already drunk Rachel exclaimed "Do you guys even go there? It's so creepy!" I rolled my eyes at her and took the shot, feeling the bitter taste in my throat as Rachel continued "Yeah it's so Ocean-like to go to this kind of places." Does she even know me?
I just remained calm and looked at her with the most serious slash deadly face I could muster on as she looked away embarrassed. From the corner of my eye I saw Valentine trying not to laugh and I honestly wanted to slap him right now.
Now it was William's turn. "I've never left my house for a few days with my parents not knowing were I'd go."
I took a shot and closed my eyes, absorbing the insanely bitter taste that seemed to never leave my throat. My vision started to be a little blurry and I needed to pee so I called Sam "Hey can you come with me to the bathroom? I really need to pee."
She made a face as she said "Now that the game is starting to be fun? Why don't you ask for Valentine to take you there?" Valentine looked at us as I rolled my eyes at her. Why did she had to be so difficult? I got up and started to walk to what I thought was the nearest bathroom when I stumbled into somebody's foot and a strong arm snaked through my waist and kept me to falling into the ground.
I looked up and there was Valentine holding me. "Here, let me help you." He said as he held me, and lead me to the bathroom.
"So your name is Ocean, huh?" He said while we went through the mass of dancing bodies.
"Not really. My name's Oceanne."
"That's a beautiful name."
I grinned as I looked at him, his little dimple appearing as he smiled "Thanks Valentine, I like yours too."
