I decided to go back home today to clean my apartment, every step accompanied by a nagging feeling of unease. Jungkook's arm was wrapped tightly around my waist, his grip firm and possessive, as if he feared I might slip away at any moment.
"Are you sure you have to go?" he murmured, his breath warm against my ear.
"Yeah, Jungkook, I told you I have some errands to run," I replied, gently trying to disentangle myself from his embrace. I just had to lie for him to let me go.
"But can't you do them later?" he pleaded, his voice tinged with desperation.
"No, I really need to go now," I insisted, feeling a pang of guilt at his reluctance.
As I made my way down the stairs to the living room, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at me. Jungkook's clinginess had caught me off guard, leaving me feeling unsettled and unsure of what to make of it.But before I could dwell on it any further, a sharp knock echoed through the hallway, jolting me out of my thoughts.
With a furrowed brow, I made my way to the door, curiosity piqued by the unexpected visitor.
"Venice? What are you doing here?" Jungkook asked, surprised to see her standing on his doorstep.
"I, um, I left something here and I need to get it," she explained, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Sure, come on in," He replied, stepping aside to let her enter.
As Venice made her way upstairs to retrieve her belongings, I couldn't shake the feeling of tension that hung in the air. It was as if the walls themselves were closing in on me, suffocating me with their silent scrutiny.
"I'm just gonna follow her. Stay here." Jungkook stated as he joined his ex in his bedroom to get her other stuff.
Alone in the living room, I couldn't help but replay the events of the evening in my mind, searching for clues to unravel the mystery of Jungkook's strange behavior. But try as I might, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something he wasn't telling me, something lurking beneath the surface of our friendship.
After what felt like an eternity, Venice returned downstairs, along with Jungkook, her presence a stark reminder of the tangled web of relationships that surrounded us.
"Thanks for letting me grab my stuff," Venice said, offering him a weak smile as she headed towards the door.
"No problem," He replied.
Before leaving, she looked towards me and lifted an eyebrow. "You live here now?"
I shook my head. "No, just stayed for days because he wants me here."
And through that, she didn't respond and just left. Jungkook and I sat down to eat, the atmosphere heavy with unspoken tension. But just as we were about to dig in, another knock sounded at the door, this time heralding the arrival of Jimin and Taehyung.
"Hey guys, what's up?" Jimin greeted us, oblivious to the somber mood in the room.
"We were just about to eat," Jungkook replied, though his tone lacked its usual warmth.
"Good timing!" Taehyung chuckled and sat down in front of us.
"You just ate at my house!" Jimin blurted out.
"Fuck. Just leave if both of you will just shout." Jungkook hissed as I chuckled.
As we sat down to eat, the conversation flowed easily, though there was an undercurrent of tension that refused to dissipate. But when we told Jimin and Taehyung about Venice's unexpected visit, their playful banter fell silent, replaced by a heavy silence that seemed to stretch on forever.
"It's strange that she showed up out of the blue like that," Taehyung remarked, his brow furrowed in thought.
"Yeah, it's definitely suspicious," Jimin agreed, his gaze flicking between Jungkook and me.
"Suspicious? She just left something and went over to get it. Nothing's wrong." Jungkook remarked.
"She's dating Jay." Taehyung stated. "Just saying."
"Jay?"
Jimin looked up to me and nodded. "Yes, your ex. Remember?"
"Oh yeah?" Jungkook poked his inside cheeks.
With his remarks, the thought of me being his rebound suddenly went in to my mind. Overthinking that he's just using me to distract himself from chasing Venice. As I struggled to make sense of it all, I couldn't shake the feeling that Jungkook was hiding something from me, that there was more to his relationship with Venice than he was letting on. But as I looked into his eyes, I made a silent vow to trust in our friendship, to believe that he would never betray me.
And with that resolve firmly in place, I pushed aside my doubts and fears, determined to enjoy the meal and the company of my friends. After all, no matter what secrets lay hidden beneath the surface, one thing was certain: as long as I had Jungkook by my side, I could weather any storm that came my way
