The café down the road was very cozy and homey. It was always crowded with sophomore and senior students. The walls of the cafe had a light shade of brown to it while the chairs were of chestnut color and tables of mahogany.
One such sofa was occupied by a female who was sipping a cup of coffee with an impassive face. She was dressed in a black jean and camo hoodie. Her hair was neatly tied up in a ponytail. Her black eyes looked guarded and detached, the kind that looked down on everyone else.
The bell in the cafe rang signalling someone's entry. She looked up to the entrance and her face lit up with a smile and raised her hand to capture the attention of the man.
The man's gaze wandered as he searched for his best friend and smiled once he spotted her. He had silky black hair and emerald green eyes, he had a sharp jaw and thin lips. The female population of the cafe was busy staring at him as he made his way towards her.
"You're ten minutes late."
"Well.. Hello to you too," he greeted the female.
"Hello Aiden."
"Eyyy... Jennie, why you so sulky?" Aiden asked the female, Jennie.
Aiden and Jennie knew each other since their were in their diapers. She was two years younger than him having skipped the first two kindergarten grades. She was determined to make him open up to him that he finally had to cave in.
Right now it had been sixteen years of push and pull friendship. He had learned to trust her when she chose to stay despite finding out his identity. She, a human had extended her hand and crouched to caress his snout despite her previous encounter with werewolves.
"So what do you want to eat?" Aiden asked Jennie.
Jennie shook her head and stuck her chin out motioning at her coffee.
Aiden nodded and scurried off to get his own beverage. He came back after a little while and both of them sat in silence.
"Why'd you call me tho?" Jennie asked.
"My mate," he sighed, "I don't know... there's always that sneaky beta next to her and it looks like they are mated."
"Aww... is someone jelly?" Jennie teased.
"Maybe.. Maybe not... but... she's my mate and mates are like supposed to be a very crucial part of our lives," Aiden said looking at Jennie right in the eye.
"See...I can't say I understand cause I don't and... You know my personality, it has always been dreams ahead of a companion. You know how much I hate the idea of a companion after the incident," Jennie said looking at Aiden.
Aiden looked at her and cracked a small smile before saying, "Your thoughts are so big and ambitions so tall but it's just your height that is short."
Jennie puffed out her cheeks, "I was destined to be taller okay? But it is just that there were some errors in my growth and development."
Aiden laughed out at that, "Yeah sure, come on let's get going."
Jennie nodded and picked her cheesecake takeout before heading out.

Taylor and Piper were busy snooping around the mall.
The ball was coming in a few weeks and they still didn't get their clothes for the occasion.
"Pipes? Does this look good?" Taylor asked, picking a bohemian dress.
Piper looked at Taylor before raising her eyebrows, "Ok, for one, I do know that a certain someone likes bohemian but... it's just not meant for you."
Taylor pouted before putting it back in the rack, "then what do you think would look good on me?"
"Figure it out."
Piper and Taylor were best friends since the age of five and had been attached at the hip ever since. Both of them are aspiring medical students with a showcasable report card. At twenty-one,both of them stand with the 'life crisis' of choosing a dress.
Taylor fastened her steps in order to catch up with Piper.
"Tee, make it fast. I haven't yet started on the assignment Mr.Wilson handed to us," Piper said.
"Wel- hey, wait, isn't that your bro-in-law?" Taylor pointed at the male and female present at the opposite side of the shop.
Piper turned around to see the people Taylor was pointing at, "stop pointing, it is rude."
Taylor grabbed Piper's hand and dragged her towards the male and female.
"Hey Aiden!"
Aiden and Jennie turned around to face the female duo of Red Light pack. Jennie nudged Aiden bringing him back from his frantic search, "the one you are searching for is not here Aidey."
Piper and Taylor giggled in response to Jennie's tease whereas, Aiden's face started spotting blotches of red.
"Aww, did I get the ever-stoic Aiden to blush?"
Aiden quickly recovered from all the teasing and shot Jennie a warning look.
Jennie and Piper greeted each other while Taylor continued teasing Aiden.
Piper and Jennie had met each other when the former found out who the latter's best friend's mate was. The two then got closer while sharing the common grounds of teasing the anti-social werewolf. Aiden had introduced Piper as his brother's mate and Jennie as his best friend.

Kai walked to his room and replayed the conversation that took place in the Alpha's office.
"So? What did you find out?" Alpha Jason asked.
"There was nothing special but there were cars of the big three parked at the entrance, one from each clan, the Banes, the Martins, the Hales. It looked like they were preparing for something big. The only clans that weren't present were the Mallorys and the Corentines," he hesitated before continuing, "and there was this one fact, in the pit of those dangerous creatures, there was one female. She actually helped me out and did not seem like the others but her attire had the logo of the Corentines."
"The Corentines? But they had called truce long ago...and even separated from their people," his alpha looked deep in thought, "did you happen to see anything else that seemed out of place?"
Kai racked his brains in favour of remembering something useful but was unable to.
Jason looked at Kai, "You can leave."
Kai nodded and left the room but not before hearing the Corentine heir's name.
His thoughts were stopped when he saw Zerah going through his varsity jacket collection.
Zerah looked through the beta's clothes before deciding that the clothes were not upto the mark.
"Zee, what are you doing?" He asked as he marched forward taking out his favourite white varsity jacket out of her clutches.
The young female was flabbergasted by the sudden actions, "Kaiiii...you don't have anything worth wearing for the ball," she looked at the man in front of her and examined him from head to toe, "such a waste of such a good face and physique."
Kai didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. The female was childish and stubborn. He flicked her hand took the cigarete she had just acquired, "no smoking in my room and not when you know how much I hate them. It's not good for you, you're just seventeen. You have a life ahead of you."
Zerah stared at her brother from another mother, her gaze softened, "Aww...is someone worried about- wait! Why do you smell like vanilla?" She asked him, taking a step forward and sniffing his hoodie.
Before Kai could answer Taylor had come up to haul them both out to the dinner table.
