As we shuffled into the opening we all exchanged names and introductions. Honestly, we're lucky this place is still standing. And it was clean!
The man in the light is named Jenner. He had been the first person to greet us.
Jenner informed us once those doors closed there was no opening them. We all gleefully entered the tall building trying to get away from the geeks that had slowly gotten closer to us.
As we sat waiting for everyone to get their blood checked Daryl and I rested against a wall with our backs to it.
"I want to room with you if we have the choice," I stated to Daryl breaking our silence as adrenaline finally left our bodies after being invited to the indoor area.
"I don't feel comfortable sharing with others. Not to mention we have been sharing the tent for a while." I finished sharing my thoughts on how the rooms would be.
Daryl grunted agreeing with me, "I don't mind," He shared with a half smile to me.
1 by 1 more and more names were called. I didn't even notice it was Daryl's turn until he got up and left his crossbow with me.
Him and that thing never pHim, him leaving it with me is pretty crazy.
I traced the camo that covered his beloved crossbow. The metallic feeling and the coolness that radiated off the thing made me feel better about what was about to happen.
I'm not too worried about it but my anxiety gets the better of me when it comes to these things. Always by the time I get to it I find myself hyping myself about how bad it's going to be then it ends up not being that bad.
After a little while, Daryl went back to his place next to me while grabbed his crossbow back, and placed it in his lap.
Once again the smell of Daryl flooded my mind again. His signature smell of cigarettes and sweat. You'd think I'd be a bad smell but it truly isn't. It makes me feel safe.
"He's shitty with a needle," Daryl grumbled causing me to snicker at his words.
"Angelina," Jenner called out indicating it was now my turn. My breathing started to become faster and harder.
As I got up Daryl gave me a slight nod noticing my change. I slowly yet swiftly made my way towards the little table where he has started and discarded needles. Jenner was sitting in a chair with another completely across from him.
The chair was a black spinning bar seat. The type I use to spin and pin on when I was younger.
"Hi," I said simply to him exchanging handshakes.
Jenner pointed at my left arm simply stating, "Please face your palm up and rest it steadily on the table,".
Even though the man was awkward he was still kind with his words. I gave him a half smile as I directed my arm where he asked me to.
We both sat in silence as he prepared my arm for the needle. The coolness of the alcohol wipe sent chills down my spine.
When he brought out the needle I simply looked away to shield my vision from what was about to happen.
As I felt the piercing feeling of the needle go through my skin like a knife slicing through butter and gritting my teeth.
After Jenner was finished getting my blood I walked back to Daryl smirk on my face.
"That wasn't that bad, you baby," I stated with a devilish grin on my face.
His eyes meant mine with slit eyes, "You don't he to room with me now," He said trying to keep a straight face.
