Lauren

Clicking of camera and loud chattering of people is the only thing you could hear inside the room where to meet up basketball players. I decided to accompany my nephew to watch the final game of his favorite team. At first I was uncertain of coming with him because I still feel exhausted of what happened for my forbidden wedding but Marky is very persistent and I end up agreeing to his request.

The memory of yesterday is still fresh on my mind, how many times I tried to forget it, it just suddenly pop out in my head like an important note to be remembered. Who am I fooling, forgetting it easily? I just lost my chance to be a bride

“Aunt Lauren, my feet is aching I want to meet him right now” Marky said, while stomping his left foot. “Let’s just wait for our turn, okay?” I said, combing his hair with my hand.

“Excuse me” the woman in brunette wearing black jacket and jeans called our attention who I guess was one of the committee at the game, telling us that we only have five minutes to meet the players. As she announces something more, I found Marky is now glaring at her.

“Hey cutie” I called him. I can’t help but to chuckle. “Look, it’s not her fault for us having just five minutes. Besides it’s almost half an hour that we’re standing here waiting for our turn” I said and breathed heavily. “Zeek is the only guy – among your favorites – are not yet signing your basketball”

“Aunt Lauren” was all he said, pouting.

With no other choice we stayed on the line patiently. After a couple of minutes other players are already done meeting people, and the crowded room is getting spacious. When I noticed that Zeek stood up, his assistant told us that the meet and greet session is over, giving us sympathetic smile.

We left the room. I felt sorry for this kid beside me holding the hem of my shirt, and the other hand is holding the ball clinging in between his arm and waist. I can’t do anything but to divert his attention to other things.

“Do you want to eat?” I asked. “I’ll buy anything you want” I continued and smiled. He shook his head; disappointment is obvious in his face. I hate seeing him sad. I thought of buying him his favorite milk tea shake, but that would make his stomach churn afterwards and probably spent an hour at the comfort room dealing with his stomach. But I can’t think of other way. Nah! I’ll just help him later.

“Hey, what if I’ll buy you a milk tea shake, and drink it on our way home?” I asked. His face has lightened up. I sighed in relief. At last!

“Zeek!” Marky shouted. I frowned. Zeek?

Then he runs towards Zeek and to the other guy.

I thought he was glad because of my offer, but then I’m still happy that we won’t get any problem later on taking restroom for an hour, plus Marky will finally meet him.

Marky grab his marker on his pocket, Zeek kneel down and faced him. I am glad that Zeek is such a kind person to give this kid a chance.

I smiled at Zeek. When I turned my eye to the guy beside him, blood rushed suddenly to my face.

“You!” I shrieked, pointing my index finger at him. I drag him far from Marky and Zeek whose busy talking.

“You are the guy who ruined my wedding!” I said angrily.

He frowned but then beamed as if he remembered the trouble he’d done.  “You were the girl named Lauren” he said and let out a small laugh.

How dare he could still laugh, this is a serious thing! I'm about to dial Celine's number as he continued.
