Tofer

Its Tuesday today and I have photo shoot for Esquire magazine, I came where everybody is still busy preparing equipment at the studio.

“Good day Tofer” My best buddy Ron greeted me.

“Hey, how are you man?” I answered back.

“You’re keeping a secret huh?” he asked cocking his head to sideway and smirks. “You’re the talk of the town” he continued.

Turning the pages of newspaper as if looking something and handed it to me. “Meddler is no longer available as the youngest bachelor dates who?” he read the article. I smiled as I look at the image, me and Lauren at the grocery.

“Media” I said as I removed my coat.

“What? So it’s true?” he asked half statement.

“No I’m not dating anybody” I answered him “That’s just my childhood friend” was all I said to stop his interrogations. He just nod but scrutinizes me. I smiled at his reaction.

He sat next to me still looking at the picture of Lauren in the newspaper.

“But you know she’s beautiful and have the potential to be a model or an actress, Tofer”

I shook my head as if disagreeing on him “No I don’t think she’s interested from any of it” I said but he’s still persistent

“Why don’t she just try, come her with you and I will personally introduce her to our agency” he suggests

“Fine. I’ll just ask her first, but there’s no assurance that I could convince her”

I’m sure that she’s not interested, knowing Lauren being contented of having a simple life out of the limelight.

But I agree on what Ron told me, Lauren has the potential to be model besides Ron is a professional photographer he’s good at choosing models.

The photo shoot went well and we’re at the bar hanging out with Zeek together with my other teammate.  And tomorrow I’ll be a driver again so I should not drink too much.

The boys where talking about something and I barely understand them I’m just staring at my phone having uncertainties if I should call her or not. With my ambiguity I just send her a message.

Hi

There I finally send it. I waited for her reply when Zeek offer me a drink and have a small talk about our next game.

I glanced at my phone but no any replies. Maybe it’s too short for her not to reply with my message.

I’m hanging out with the boys. But don’t worry I won’t drink too much

Now it composes fourteen words. And again it took minutes of glancing at my phone but no text message. I read somewhere facts that if a woman doesn’t return a call or any replies after two messages it only means that she’s not interested nor doesn’t care to you at all.

I sighed with that thought.

Erick called me out he’s one of my teammate and now the others where now teasing me.

“Who is she?” Erick asked.

“Who?” I asked. “The girl you’re with at the grocery store, everybody knows it” It took me seconds to realize what they’re talking about. I can’t hide my smile.

“Positive” they said in unison I laughed at them and explained that she’s just a friend. Hopefully they stopped teasing.

My phone buzzed. I almost lose it in my hand.

Now I’m smiling. I knew she’s interested to me; I can’t help but to turn that smile into grin.

You’d better not

That’s what all she wanted to say? I mentally slap my head.

Lauren

I’m almost done with my paper works when I turned my attention to one of my message at my e-mail. It’s from Ms. Evans, owner of perfume boutique where I’m also working at. She said from her e-mail that Chad visit the boutique yesterday and just asks if I always go to work.

What does he needs now? I promised myself that either he will ask me willingly to marry him or I will show up to him if I proved to everybody that I’m really ready to a bride.

I continue finishing my work before I reminisce things again and would end up crying. I don’t want to extend my “vacation” here because of unfinished business.

It’s 11 in the evening when I finished my work I then hurriedly fix my things so I could take a rest, its been a long day for me.

As I leave my office, I felt my phone vibrated I check on it and it’s from Tofer, as I open my inbox I remember he texted me earlier but I just ignore it.

“So he’s with his friends huh” I said with myself as I read his message.

Tofer is happy go lucky though he knows a lot about chores that doesn’t count as the husband material. Unlike my Chad, he’s always that gentleman, kind, and sweet….And very careful in making decisions. I sighed as I remember him.

Chad is a doctor now; I wonder what did Tofer pursue in college? I must ask him that.

I replied to him by saying “You’d better not”

I went to my room and bath for a while, I check my phone but he did not reply. Huh! He should not drink too much; I want to go home alive.

I lay on my bed and sighed “Tomorrow will be a beautiful day” I said with my eyes closed and by that I sleep peacefully.
