Chapter 33:

Ricks POV,

I looked down at her sleeping form, hunched over leaning against my arm.
It felt nice, her skin against mine.

I sat there for a few minutes, looking out into the dark abyss of space.
Her small hand twitched and I looked down, seeing a few locks of (H/C) hair fall in front of her face as she slept.

I couldn't help but chuckle as I swept the curls away with my free hand and took in her beauty once more before looking back at the stars.

Barely a minute passed and we were home.
I had the ship parked in my garage, but still needed to get her home.

Not wanting to wake her, I made a portal and gently picked up her body.
Walking through, we ended up inside her room.
A staring young girl looked up at me with bright eyes. She sat on the bed opposite us; I recognized her as the girl we saved. James's.. Sister I think.

"Hey mister, what're you doing with (Y/N)?" She tilted her head in a confused fashion.

I stumbled for the right words as I walked over to (Y/N)'s bed and set her down gently.

"O-oh, well.. She um.. Fell asleep at our house. I guess today was too exhausting for her." I shrugged.

"Oh, okay." She looked appeased and went back to her comic book, obviously not wanting to start any conversation.
I didn't want to either.

[Quiet girl, kinda like Morty] I thought to myself.

Seeing.…what was her name?  Milly.. No, Lilly.
Seeing Lilly distracted, I decided to risk it: I gave (Y/N) a small peck on her forehead before heading out.
"Sleep tight" I whispered and squeezed her hand one more time.
I yawned and readied my portal gun, ready for a nice, well deserved rest.

I grinned as I went through the portal and entered my room, remembering a plan I had set in place the day before we left to dimension J-373. I'd almost forgotten.

I allowed a small chuckle to escape my lips as I reveled in my plans delicacy.

I had a surprise for (Y/N).

Your POV:

Your eyes fluttered open and immediately were overwhelmed by the bright light shining from your window. You still felt a little groggy but never the less, tried your best to remember what had happened the night before. Images of rick and your harrowing journey across dimensions flooded back to you.

Looking up from your bed, you saw Lilly laying asleep on the bed across the room.

All the excitement of the days past suddenly seemed the least of your concern as a thought swam through your brain.

[What day is it?]

You checked your phone and, to your horror, it was Monday.

And the time read 7:30am.

"Shitshitshit!" You whisper yelled as you got up and quickly threw on some clothes.
You closed the door quietly, making sure not to wake your sister.

The thought made you smile.
You had a sister again.

With all those memories of two split lives mixed into one, it felt like the first time and a regular thing; this made it all the more exciting.

It was kinda weird having two lives mixed all together. But you found that as long as you didn't try to remember anything too hard, it was really fine.
You didn't mind.

After all, it was a small price to pay for having your family back, in a way..
Of course, your parents didn't know you all were family.. But you'd tell them eventually.
Maybe when james and Lilly left to pursue their own life, it wouldn't be so complicated then.
