Chapter 11:

Ricks POV:

"Not good enough"

I shot the computer monitor behind him, sparks flying everywhere. In a moment of confusion, he loosens his grip on the (Y/N) and turns around.

Fire erupts behind him and he gets singes slightly.

I shot the gun out of his hand and he curses at me. I run to (Y/N), pushing that piece of shit into the fire, hearing him scream in agony as he burns alive.

I grin and grab (Y/N)'s hand, making a portal home and pulling her through.

I close the portal and his screams fade into silence.

I look over at her, still smiling, happy we made it out alive. But she doesn't look at me. Her face still looks terrified. I drop my smile and touch her shoulder.

She flinches away.

I pull my hand back and let go of her hand.

[S-shes... scared of me.....]

Without another word, I go back into the garage, closing the empty safe and sitting down at my desk.

I sigh and look out at the street.

[Guess she really doesn't like me..] I put my portal gun down.

[She did see my brutally murder a guy.]

My thoughts drifted to her.

[They'd better not have hurt her..]

I felt anger build up in me, but it quickly faded.

[I'm the reason she almost died....]

I took a swig from my flask and lay my head down on the table.

[I'm the reason she has to go through any of this shit..]

I felt a tear start to form in my eye as I started to think about her.

[Diane..]

I wiped away my tear and glanced to the right, seeing a gun on the table.

I take another swig.

[There's no use in me being alive.. all it does is put my family in danger... put her in danger....]

I chug everything that's left in my flask.

[Diane....]

I felt tears running down my face.

[I can...]

I took the gun and lifted it to my head

[Finally....]

I took a deep breath

[Be with you]

Your POV:

Rick pulls you through the portal and you sit on the ground, still trying to process what just happened.

[Rick.. he just.... that man..]

You shivered as you thought of how he grinned as he pushed him into certain death.

You were so engrossed in thought, you didn't notice Rick look at you.  He touched your shoulder but you instinctively flinched back.

You tried to say sorry, but the words wouldn't leave your mouth.
