"Mary, sweetheart, it's time for bed." Cora said rubbing the back of her head and fixing a loose, dark curl back into place.

"But Mama, remember you said that you would finish the story!"

"Oh yes, I remember. But first you must go get ready for bed. Okay?" said Cora sternly. She sighed and counted to three in her head.

Robert could tel that his wife was getting frustrated. He walked towards his wife and daughter and kneeled down. "Mary, please do what your mother asked. We don't want her getting upset because we both know what occurs when that happens. Now, please go get ready for bed."

Mary nodded, crossed her arms, and stormed out the room.

When Robert turned around to Cora who had heard the whole converstion, she looked very upset.

Robert was trying to figure out how to keep his wife from exploding with anger. "Umm.." he said biting his bottom lip. But it was to late.  She glared at Robert and threw her hands on her hips. At that moment he knew he was in trouble. She was not wearing her warm cheerful smile that she always had on her face, but instead she wore a cold, thin frown, that sent a shiver down his spine. There had only been a few times Robert had seen that look on his wife's face. And right now was one of them.

"I simply meant that you can be a little sharp tongued, that's all!" Robert said defensively, sneaking a few steps closer to his wife.

Cora threw her hands up at his chest, took a couple steps back and gave him another one of those death, wrenching looks. "I do not!" She cried.

"Cora, my dear wife, i'm afraid you do. You know how Mary gets when she is angry? That's how you are."

Cora looked up at him, but instead of wearing the cold glare, her eyebrows were raised and she had a confused look across her face. "Yes, but what on Earth does that have to do with me?

Again Robert quickly grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close against his chest. But she didn't resist she just stood there with a shocked expression all across her face. "You are not exactly like our daughter. But, you do have your similarities. You both get a sharp tongue when your angry, but most importantly, you both have the most incredible smile that can light up a room, and you both have a kind, generous heart."

Cora's sapphire eyes met Robert's. "Oh Robert," Cora started, but before she could finish, Robert's lips crashed down on hers, for a slow, breathless kiss. After a few seconds Cora broke away and caught her breath, placing her hand on his chest.

"Just because you swept me of my feet, doesn't mean I'm going to let you sit in on the story." She said teasing, but wearing a serious face, so he wouldnt see through her.

Realizing she was teasing, he went on a head and followed along. Robert looked at Cora and made his lips into an O shape. "What makes you think I was trying to pursuade you to let me sit in on your little shenanigan?"

"Robert Crawley, I have been married to you for almost twelve years! I have learned your ways and tricks by now." Cora laughed, kissed her husband's cheek and winked at him while making her way out the door.

"This might be a little harder than I planned." Robert frowned and made his way towards his bedroom. He let out an exhausted sighand then scratched the back of his head thinking about what his next plan would be to get in onthe story.
