FIXED THIS ONE.

Just like chapter one. Some is the same, some is 100% different.

_______________

Beep. Beep. Beep.

You lazily threw your arm out, hitting the alarm, and then rolled out of bed onto your feet. The sun hadn’t come up yet, but it rarely did at 5:30 in the morning. You pulled off your sleep shirt leaving you in shorts and a sports bra, then tossed the dirty shirt in a pile that had formed outside of your bathroom by the wall. You’d have to wash those today, or tomorrow.

As you yawned you began to stretch your arms and legs out, slowly becoming more awake as you did so. After it felt as though your limbs were loose enough you grabbed a jump rope, leaning against the back of a chair, and began to start your morning workout routine.

It had only taken you a week in the city to get into the swing of things. You still had your moments of ‘new in town’ cluelessness, but you had managed to get your schedule rather organized. Well, as organized as an ER doctor’s schedule could be. As you finished with the jump rope you tossed it aside and got to the ground to begin your ab routine. It was all the program you had done when working with SHILED. Old habits die hard.

Things seemed to be going good though. The last week in the ER was filled with accomplishments. You had helped enough patients to earn Aerith and Foreman’s trust. Kairi had become one of your closer friends at the hospital along with Vanille who worked a few shifts in the ER.

The most eventful areas of the last week had of course been Dr. Gregory House’s attempts at getting you fired which included paying a fake patient to file sexual harassment charges (those had been dropped quickly), releasing three stray dogs into the ER with tags that claimed you as the owner (that was also cleared up), and of course keying your name into Foreman’s car (that had only really managed to earn him more clinic hours). A week had passed and you still worked at Gotham General which was a success in yourself. You had a madman doctor trying to get you canned but you had gone up against worse before.

You hadn’t run into Yuffie, your neighbor, again until yesterday, but the two of you had scheduled a lunch today where she’d show you some of the city that you hadn’t seen yet which you were excited for.

Once you had finished your entire morning routine, you went to put on a sleeveless dry-fit shirt. Today was Monday which meant rather than using the treadmill downstairs in the apartment building’s pathetic single room gym, you’d run to work. Gotham General was twelve miles if you took a car, but you had found a shortcut which cut it down to only a six mile run.

You were out of the building by 6:35. The run itself was an interesting path. It started in a more well off area of Gotham City, dipped into a few nasty neighborhoods, then reentered the moderate surroundings by the hospital. Last Monday when you did this run, it had gone well overall, but there was a close call where you saw someone make their way toward you with a knife. You hadn’t asked questions and just broke into a sprint away from them. This morning though, there were no creepy men with knifes or anything of that sort. It had been a calm run to the hospital with nobody even trying to steal your wallet, keys, and phone which were securely placed in the bag on your back.
