DECEMBER 12

9:59 AM

-

it was calm when lucas woke up, too calm. he looked to his side to see the el was no longer sleeping with him.

his brows creased as a wave of complete confusion came upon him.

no one was yelling downstairs, el woke up before lucas and it was only 10AM, she'd usually slept in until noon. this was not normal, especially for the time lucas has spent in the robinson residence.

lucas got up and put on his sweats, ran his finger through his hair than headed downstairs to the living room.

he rubbed his pale arms while he walked down the stairs only to find el coming through the door with two, big gold balloons. camren, amybeth and nick were right behind her carrying a bunch of bags.

"el?" his voice, raspy.

el stopped dead in her tracks and looked up at the boy in front of her. "fuck i didn't think you'd be awake yet."

"it's already 10?"

el gave her boyfriend a little smile and dropped everything she was holding to run up to him and hug him.

"happy birthday love." she whispered to him.

lucas didn't need to reply so he just hugged her tighter and smiled into her shoulder.

"hey lovebirds we got shit to do." camren said for the doorway struggling to keep her bags in her arms.

el shook her head before turning to lucas, "let's go out, we'll come back later."

"wait why are we leaving? what are we going to do?!" lucas quickly put on a shirt, and sweater while el pushed him out the door.

"we'll find something, besides it'll be fun."

then the door shut leaving the two teenagers out to walk the streets of seattle.

SOMEWHERE IN SEATTLE

12:47 AM

-

the couple was roaming around the area trying to find something to do for the next couple of hours. neither had a clue on what they wanted to do so they decided that the next store that starts with the letter 'l' was the one they were going to enter.

they came across a little place called 'la marzocco cafe'. it was cute and a good place to spend their time.

the pair sat down and el ordered avocado toast while lucas ordered just a coffee.

calming music played in the background as the customers came and go. the sounds of chatter and coffee pots go off filled the space.

"hey have i told you that i love you a lot." el smiled at lucas taking another bit of her food.

"many times, why?"

"nothing, i just really like you." a giggle, something uncommon for her, came out as she looked away.

lucas admired his girlfriend wondering what he did to deserve someone so beautiful and full of life. it was his birthday and he thought there was no better way to be spending it.

3:43 PM

-

the two have just been talking about the most random things that they didn't realize time has slipped away so quickly.

"love im telling you, cheetos arent potato chips." el argued although the topic was completely odd.

" but what really is a potato chip? cheetos are potato chips."

just as lucas finished his sentence el's phone dinged. camren had texted her.

el locked her phone and looked back up at lucas. "let's go back to the house. i'm tired of sitting."

lucas nods his head before standing up and intertwining his fingers with hers. he held her up to his lips and kissed it gently.

el smiled at the kind gesture, "i don't deserve you."

OUTSIDE THE ROBINSON HOUSE

4:16 PM

-

the pair were walking towards the door when el stopped abruptly, holding lucas back.

"okay so im just going to tell you this now because i'd feel like a terrible girlfriend if i didn't. we planned a party for you and everyone is going to jump out at you. i know you hate that so just act surprised."

"it's cute you thought i wouldn't have guessed from the big balloons this morning." el rolled her eyes at the comment before opening the door, revealing all his friends and co-stars.

they closed the door behind and it was a birthday lucas never going to forget.
