ACT III

SCENE IX

[Setting: Within QUINN's family's apartment. Both QUINN and CODY were sitting by the Kitchen Island as they watched QUINN's mother warm up some food. The kitchen/living room was bathed in warm orange light. The rest had gone to bed, leaving only the three of them awake. A slow drizzle had started outside, and the sound of raindrops hitting the glass windows resounded through the room.]

QUINN'S MOTHER: (Looking towards the kitchen window.) Ah, it's a good thing you two made it home before it started raining.

QUINN: (Chuckles as he reaches out for CODY's hand and gives it a small squeeze.) Yeah. It would have been terrible to be drenched in rain.

CODY: (Smiles softly as he looks down at their conjoined hands.)

QUINN'S MOTHER: (Takes out the bowl from the microwave before pouring the soup into two different bowls.) Here. (Passes them to CODY and QUINN.)

QUINN'S MOTHER: (To CODY.) How are you? I hope nothing too bad happened, everyone was a little worried you didn't come over sooner.

CODY: Nothing. (Shakes head as he takes a spoon of soup.)

QUINN'S MOTHER: (Smiles.) I hope so, feel free to make yourself at him. QUINN's happy to have you here.

CODY: (Turns to his boyfriend and finds him smiling.)

QUINN: (Shrugs.) It's true.

QUINN'S MOTHER: (Laughs.)

CODY: (Blushes before looking away.)

[The two talked to QUINN's mother as the rain outside got heavier, and sometime by twelve in the night they both headed to QUINN's room.]

QUINN: (Heads to his cupboard.)

CODY: (Blushes and looks way when QUINN starts to change. He looks around, realizing that he was going to wake up in this room tomorrow, the next day, and the day after that—)

QUINN: CODY?

CODY: (Turns to meet QUINN's gaze.)

QUINN: Won't you change?

CODY: Oh, I will.

QUINN: (Smiles before heading over to CODY, pecking the smaller boy's forehead before moving to the bed.) Come over when you're done okay? (Smiles.)

CODY: (Smiles before nodding.)

[Cody took of his shirt, then his shorts before looking through the bag he'd brought with him. He flushed, feeling QUINN's gaze on him.]

QUINN: Or, you can just come up here in your boxers—

CODY: (Turning to QUINN with a horrified look on his face.) No.

QUINN: (Laughs as CODY hurries to throw on a large shirt and some loose shorts.) Ah, I tired.

[As QUINN laughed CODY eventually made his way to the bed. He climbed in, snuggling up to QUINN's figure I the dimly lit room. QUINN reached up to flip the light switch just above the bed's headboard so that the room went dark. They stayed silent, the two of them breathing in a synced rhythm.]

QUINN: I'm glad you're here. (Moves hand under CODY's shirt as he kisses his forehead.)

CODY: (Buries head into QUINN's shoulder as he shivers under the boy's touch.)

[Although not said out loud it was like a silent 'I love you' floated in the air as the two boys touched and kissed each other in the dark.]

Curtains fall.
