The Return

Valerie's P.O.V.

I saw the text. I tried to hold back my tears but it was extremely hard. I couldn't believe my eyes.
'Is this really happening? This can't be...' 

"What's wrong Valerie?" Grayson's sweet worried voice didn't help this.

"Can we go home?" My voice cracked.

"Yeah Sure."

We all walked to Grayson's car. My eyes lit up with amazement. It was magnificent. I was breathless.

"Nice isn't it haha" Ethan chuckled.

"Yeah...The color is beautiful!"

"Thanks but let's get going." Grayson smiled

We hopped in his Bronco and drove to my house. There he was, outside waiting. I couldn't hold it back anymore. My red hot face was filled with non stopping tears.

"Who is that?" Ethan asks noticing my face.

"It's-It's him..." I sputter.

I open the door of the Bronco. My legs feel limp. I started to feel faint. I slowly walk towards him. He has open arms and a delightful smile. We quickly squeezed eachother. I didn't want to let go. I missed him so much but, I knew this would end soon I had another problem.

'What am I to do with Grayson?'

I didn't want to ruin this moment. I look up and he was covered in tears. I tried to wipe them away while he was doing the same to my face. I heard a door shut which startled me.

"Hey I'm Grayson and this is my twin brother Ethan." Grayson and Ethan introduced themselves politely.

"Sorry how rude of me. Uh guys this is Landon." I quickly greeted as I smeared more makeup over my face.

"Well let's go inside." I leaded the way to my house. We walked into the kitchen. My parents weren't home so I had the whole house to myself.

"Hey uh well me and Ethan have to go home. Sorry Val, see you soon?" Grayson excused himself.

"Yeah let me walk you out. I'll be back Landon." I interlocked my arm around his and walked out to his Bronco.

"Hey who is he?"

"He's Landon...Why you jealous?" I joked

"Oh course not! I just wanted to know. Was he a friend or a boyfriend or something?"

"He was a really good friend of mine. He moved but he was passing through."

"Oh okay. Are you still going to prom with me?"

"Yes. Oh and here's my number." I handed him a small strip of paper with my number on it.

"Thanks. See you tomorrow?"

"Of course. Bye Grayson."

He was holding my hand. We stared into each other's eyes deeply. It felt like the universe stopped and stayed still. It was so calm and welcoming. His hand slowly made its way to my face. With his hand on my cheek he slowly leaned forward and gave a slow, soft, passionate kiss. I quickly accepted it and kissed him in return. I didn't want this to stop. It felt so right. The kiss didn't last long because he broke it and walked away.

I stood there shocked realizing what had happened. I wave goodbye as he drove off. I walked inside to Landon. He looked mad.

"What's wrong?" I question

"Who is he? Why did you kiss him?"

"Landon calm down."

"Calm down? Rose are you serious? How am I going to be calm when I see another guy stand there and kiss you?! VALERIE I LOVE YOU!"

"Don't get mad at me when you were the one that left! LANDON YOU LEFT ME!!! YOU! LEFT! ME!" I screamed as the tears started to return.

He walked up to me gripped me tight and pulled me close.

'God he smells so good'

"Valerie I'm back. I'm back and I'm not going to leave you again. I promise."

"You promise?"

"I promise."
