The first thing I felt was pain, I wanted to scream out but I knew that no one would hear me. Slowly the pain subsided, I did not notice it happening st first but slowly I realised that I could cope with the pain and that I no longer felt the need to scream. I tried to open my eyes but nothing happened. Either my eyes would not open or outside me was just as dark as when my eyes were closed. I attemped to sit up in the hope of a fumbling explore for the light switch and yet again nothing happened. Panic began to take over and I screamed enternally and tried my damnedest to move.

"What a mess! You have done a good job on him Harry well done."

"This is one of my better ones I must say he looks almost exactly the same as he looked before"

"Fancy a pint old chap?"

"Less of the old Martin, I belelive you are a year older than me."

"It's sadly true, come on get your coat and lets go"

"I'll just call the admissions officer"

I had no idea what these men were talking about, you have done a good job in him?! Had they not noticed my panic just moments before? I understood all of the words in the conversation and parts of it seemed so trivial and yet I could not make anysense of it. I lay still to see if I could hear anything that could give me a clue to where I was. I could not be dead. I mean dead is dead. After the jump I was not expecting to feel anything more that was the point. I wanted a permanent state of unconscience. As I struggled with the news that it had not worked I cried.

"Awh, honey don't cry"

"And who the fuck are you!"

"I am your admissions officer"

"An admissons what?"

"Admissions officer, and if you just calm down I can give you the jab to finish the renewal process. It will allow you to move and give you your sight back"

"I don't want sight, I don't want hearing, I dont want anything. I fact I want nothing, nothing at all, oblivion"

"I know, I know. If you let me give you the jab, honey and we can talk this over a cup of tea"

"Bloody hell! You acctually think that tea will fix anything, that tea will wash all the problems away! You people are all the same. I just want to be dead!"

"Honey, you are dead"

"What?" Now I was confused. This could not be heaven because I pretty sure that in my heaven there would not be those women who think they can fix my life with tea and biscuits. I did not think it was hell either because so far it had not been as bad as the life before. I must have fallen still as I contemplated this as it was then that I felt a sharp prick in my arm and a blinding white light filled my vision. I rolled onto my side and hid my face in my hands. Movement! She had obviously given me this jab thing.

"How come I cried?"

"Those tears had already formed when you jumped, and the hieght of emotion you were feeling just then pushed them out. I see it all the time."

"And what exactly do you see?"

"Dead people. This is the afterlife. When you die you come here if you were not forfilled in your last life and you get another life from the point that you were happiest. In you case your happiest moment was as you jumped, because of the relief and the exilheration you felt. You will find that things here are much the same as on earth and the system is the same. I, the addmissions officer comfort the dead when they arrive and also deal with the paperwork."

"Shit"

"Are you okay"

"No, I put alot of effort into ending it all and I find out that the light at the end of the tunnel is another version of what I have just left. Even the people are the same. I have met people like you before."

"What is your name?"

"Ruben Hall"

"How old were you when you died?"

"17"

"Could you look into that mirror and tell me how old you look?"

"17"

I was happy with these simple questions that she was asking me, they were straight to the point and right now it was all I could deal with. While she paused to write onto the piece of paper on her clipboard I took the time to look round my surroundings. The walls were white and so was pretty much everything else in the room. The light that had blinded me when I had opened my eyes was one of those sugical ones and it hung over the bed I was lay on. When I got up to look in the mirror I saw that I too was dressed in a white gown with a date stamped on it; 9th September 2010. The day I'd jumped.

"Martin was right Harry did do a good job on you"

This was not right this was not a simple question. I was confused again and the memory of the conversation came back to me.

"Harry tided up and mess, Martin said he had done a good job."

"Yes"

Her lack of an answer was all I needed it was conformation of what I had guessed in the back of my mind since I heard the conversation.

"I was the mess, wasn't I?"

"Yes"

I swallowed. It was then that I noticed my heart was beating and that my lungs where working and I could smell disinfectant. Inwardly I wondered if here like on earth you could get ill. If you could die properly again. It would certainty be an unexpected bonus. I had had enough of this fuddy duddy woman with grown out highlights. If this world was like the last one I could cope with out her and so turned away from her and moved towards the door.

"Ruben, You will be needing some clothes, the address of your comidation and your allowence."

I turned back round and stuck my hand out I was no longer in the mood for talking to her. And just wanted to take a nap. Into my palm she placed two keys, one large bronze one, and a smaller silver one.

"Go out the door and turn left then take the stairs down to the ground floor to your locker that the silver key fits and in there you will find some clothes and an address to which the other key fits along with some money for this world. I bears a strong simularity to your pounds."

"Thanks"

Carol watched Ruben leave. She had decided that this was better for him, he had the eyes of some one who had seen too much and could tell he was an inderpendant soul. This did not mean however that she was not going to keep an eye on him. So she watched him leave the builing and wave a taxi now dressed in blue jeans and a white shirt. Her pager then buzzed and she looked down and made her way along the corridor and Ruben was put out of her mind.
