Eve's POV
It was late, the moon shone as the gang were talking quietly or lounging or making out. I slipped out of the back door, using my power to lie, I convinced the others I'd return. The forest leaves crunched as I became vaguely aware of the problems I would face. Was it worth the struggle? To find another and forget Craig? I hoped things would work out, but a pang of regret grew the further away I got, straining at me. I ignored it.
Time skip
As the sun began to rise, I found myself in the city. The shops were still shut and I was too hyped up on adrenaline to try to settle in a hotel room, so I pushed on. The city faded into the brisk fog as I ran, pushing and pushing my abilities. Everyone was either asleep or still too hungover to take notice of a person running at well over the speed of most cars, and it made me happy. The sense of freedom, clarity, like chains I had been released from. It was magical...
Craig's POV
I sat up, the house was silent. No one was asleep obviously, but it was eerie. I got up and looked around, suddenly I heard a quiet sob, one that clearly wasn't wanted to be heard. In the kitchen, I find Amber kneeling on the tiles, David in her arms, crying, "She's gone," Her voice quavering as the tears splashed to the floor, "Who's gone?" I asked, rushing to her side.
"Eve, she's gone,"
"But, w, what? She said she'd come back..."
"she lied, her powers,"
"Oh, n..no! She can't be gone! I loved her! I thought she loved me..."
"WELL SHE DIDN'T" Amber screamed, and ran off leaving a trail of bitter tears. I ran to help her, but David held me back and shook his head,"I'll go, she needs me." I nodded, the tears started to fall and I fell in despair. Eve said she loved me, I was going to be hers. I had to be hers.
David's POV
"Amber?" My voice cracks in the lowest whisper I could manage,
"What do you want? Are you going to leave me too?"
"No! Never, you're mine, understand?"
"Prove it, I don't who to trust anymore," I sat next to her and turned her face towards me, my lips pressed against hers and I felt the depressed heat melt from her body. We pulled back and I stood up,"Wait, one more thing..." I knelt on one knee and took something from my pocket. A velvet box. "Amber, will you...marry me?"
