The next Monday I arrived at school reasonably early to finish my Trigonometry homework. Within the first two hours I was there i was congratulated a numerous amount of times.
“Come here.” Requested Jake, a fellow offensive lineman.
“Yes?” I asked as he placed a large hand around my shoulder.
“I’m going to be cool with you no matter what,” he pondered “but is there any chance you're gay?”
“WHAT?” I demanded
“I just heard…”
“No!” I interrupted. “None of what you hear in this school is true! Don’t you dare listen to people and don't you dare tell anyone what you heard!”
“Dude I was Just wondering.” he said sounding offended.
“It was a stupid question!” I screamed as I stormed off
The next hour I met my best friend Nicole in front of her locker.
“Hey bestie!” I said happily
“Hi!” she replied with her bright smile
“So I think someone is telling people about me” I said with a frown.
“Well who all knows?”
“Umm you, Dakota, Jared, Dakota's girlfriend Lexy, and Laura.” I replied
"Most of those people are pretty nice, so I don't think anyone of them would say anything. But hey I got to go back to class.” She said walking away.
We call our the building that houses our weight room and locker room the pavillion. On top of shielding the weight and locker room, it also holds eighty by fifty yards of Astroturf inside of it. Considering we are only part of the 5AAA conference we have a pretty advanced facility.
“Hey Dakota!” I said during practice.
“Hey.” he replied
“ So is there any way that you told Jake about me? he asked about it this morning and I said it wasn’t true.”
“No!” he defended overprotective. “Why would I do that? You know my older brother is also gay and I know how that can ruin somebody’s life!”
“I know.” I said “I was just being sure.”
“Has he said anything mean about it?” He persisted
“Nope! But if they do I'll have big brother Kota beat them up!” I happily stated.
“You better.” He warned
“I’m glad Lexy told you. Even if I was mad at her at first. But it did give me a best friend!”
“Me too” He exclaimed
One day at lunch I decided to sit down with Dakota and Lexy because me and Lexy were previously having a discussion about cute guys. Suddenly Dakota kind of started getting upset being excluded from the conversation. He kept on repeating ‘no secrets’ until Lexy finally gave and exclaimed ‘Bo’s gay!’. And that was the beginning of probably the best friendship I’ve had with a guy.
Following practice as we were redressing in our street clothes I overheard a large discussion between a few other sophomores.
“I think its completely wrong!” David exclaimed
“Just stay away from me if you are and it’ll be alright” Benny stated
“What are you girls bickering about?” I demanded in a wondering tone
“What's your view on faggots?” David requested
“Well to start with, you don’t need to say that.” I corrected, “but if you want to be gay, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. If anything I promote it, however I am definitely against publicly cross dressing.” knowing that’s what everybody wanted to hear.
“Exactly!” the crowd exclaimed.
“What?” a confused Benny asked. “I thought we were talking about gay people?”
“You guys need to get dressed and go home!” Coach H. said turning the corner
“Yessir.” we robotically replied, gathering our personal items.
