The blinding light burned my eyes, as though the sun hurdled towards earth and the moon had disappeared. It wouldn't have surprised me since being trapped in this dark room already felt like the end of the world. At least my world.
My days were numbered, and I knew that much.
My eyes peeled open from the deep sedated slumber I was in, my mind in a flurry and my vision a haze. I raised my head, weakly, to find Derek entering the room. He had turned on the lights, disrupting my erratic sleep.
That must mean it was daytime. Was it? The fact that I didn't know how much time had passed or whether it was light outside drove me insane. It felt as though I sat in a classroom without a clock, but you can only estimate the time for so long.
"Oh, I'm sorry! Were you sleeping?" He gasped as if he cared. Shockingly, he didn't care. Not one bit.
My head hung down, my muscles giving up on me. I hadn't eaten or drank anything in the past however many days, and it was beginning to affect me. From the lack of food, the drugs Derek pumped into me were hitting my bloodstream faster. My bones were thinning, and so was my skin by the looks of my prominent veins on my arm.
He slapped me back into his world and forced my head up to see him eye-to-eye.
"We went over this!" He shouted. "You keep your head up around me. You RESPECT me. Right?" He stared into my eyes. I gave him a dead gaze, not wanting to cry for the sake of my hydration. "Nod for me."
I slowly nodded, my gaze turning lost to furious. At this point, I felt empty. Yet his arrogance and godlike complex infuriated me to no end. The sheer fact that he thinks he owns me because I'm bound to a chair causes me to glare at him.
He sighed, pushing my cheek so my head was forced away from him. "You're boring me, Bell. You don't want me to get bored of you. Wanna know why?"
I slowly looked back over to him, watching as he shuffled some things around his table of instruments. He held up his handgun, cocked it, and pointed it at me. My eyes widened, my heart racing. I made a harsh stomp, trying to fall over or get out of the way. I was weak, and the chair was too heavy for me to move it a centimeter.
"Don't worry. You're not worth my bullet... yet."
Just as he began to lower it, there was a loud noise outside of the door. My wide eyes quickly darted to the heavy metal door.
Did they find me?
Derek tossed his gun on the table and grabbed my chair, dragging me behind the metal shelves full of beer. He left me alone for a brief moment, turning off the light again. Rushing back over to me, he covered my mouth even though he had already covered it with duct tape.
