“Weren’t you supposed to meet with Mr. Miyagi today?” I asked, and then he palmed his face and sighed. That made me giggle.

“I totally forgot..We could go now….It’s only an hour late.” He said.

I nodded in response and we walked over to the old screen door and looked in.

I saw the back of Mr. Miyagi, sitting at his usual little table, silent.

“Hey, Mr. Miyagi.” Daniel said, and that made him turn around.

“Daniel san. Hello.” Mr. Miyagi said cooly.

“Hey.. uh, sorry I’m late…. A lot happened last night and I was up pretty late.” He said, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

“oh.. It ok. You came. All that matter.”

“Oh, great! So… Where do we start?” Daniel asked excitedly. He was literally jumping up and down like a three-year old girl.

“Come. We start now.” Mr. Miyagi said and stood up, walking past us to the street outside his office door.

“ We drive to house. Training start there.” He said, getting into the drivers seat of the car and starting the engine.

This whole time Daniel has been jumping up and down and even squealing a little bit. His girly reactions to being trained by a maintenance man surprise me. It might even surprise me enough to want to learn a little karate myself, to see what Daniel is so happy about.

The car ride was filled with Daniel asking Mr. Miyagi question after question, and Mr. Miyagi didn’t even look annoyed at all by him. As for me, I was about ready to punch him in the face. For some reason, him being so annoying with all his questions attracted me even more…

After about a ten-minute drive, we pulled up to an old-looking house, with grey peeling paint and dusty windows. I began to notice all of the oil barrels sitting around his drive, and wondered if he also worked in some kind of oil buisness. But, of course, Daniel took the question right out of my mind.

I also noticed a variety of brand new cars sitting in his large driveway. I wonder where he got those from…

Mr. Miyagi stopped the car in front of the house, and he got out and started to go in. Daniel and I just followed him into a huge, beautiful backyard. There were flowers and little tiny trees all over, there were sharply cut bushes and shrubs and a brown wood fence outlining the entire backyard. All along the middle of the yard was a wooden walkway leading down to a little pond.

“Wow… This is..amazing.” I said after a long silence of Daniel and I admiring the yard, and Mr. Miyagi standing silently.

“Come. We start with cars.” Mr. Miyagi said and led us out to the front drive filled with all of the cars.

“Wh-what are we gonna start with?” Daniel asked excitedly. That has got to be at least the millionth question he has asked today.
