Both Daniel and his opponent were dancing around on the balls of their feet. arms up ready to strike. It seems like since he won his last match, I had more faith in Daniel. Even though all of these guys were much bigger than him and more intimidating, i firmly believed that he could take all of them.
This time, it was Daniel who made the first move. He jetted out his leg in an attempt to kick his opponent in the ribs. The other guy, though, was one step ahead of him. He ducked and grabbed Daniel’s leg, then flipped him over so he was on his back on the ground. He made one blow to Daniel’s ribs and Daniel cried out in pain right before the referee shouted, “Time! One Point.”
The other guy shot up quickly but Daniel was still on the ground. I wanted to be at his side doing whatever i could, but there were referees and fans all blocking my way.
After a few minutes of me watching in horror as he stayed still down on the ground, Daniel finally stood up and the crowd, including me, all roared with applause. I glanced over and saw his opponent smirking at him as he tried to stand. It was really hard to watch…..
“ Round Two.” I heard the ref say. “Fight!” And they were off again.
Daniel’s opponent was smirking from ear to ear and waiting for Daniel to make a move.
I guess he underestimated Daniel because in one swift move, he was on the ground and Daniel was standing over him, that same ear-to-ear smirk on his face.
