Eight

Lauren's POV:

"Here you are," A nurse tells me as we approach my door room.

"Can you please tell Jake to visit me," I ask her and she nods. She takes me into the room and I'm then greeted with looks of worry and concern by my family.

"Guys I'm fine," I say as their eyes follow me and Lisa helps me get into bed.

"The doctors told us what happened this morning, oh gosh that must have been so awful," Katherine says and comes up to the side of my bed, grabbing my hand.

"Uhm guys, I need to tell you something," I tell them calmly. I share everything with my sisters so this should be easy, but it's not. How do I just tell them that I had my first kiss because I'm dying? Or the boy that kissed me nearly died afterwards?

"Jakekissedme," I rush out, all the words mixed together.

"What?" Christina says confused.

"Jake kissed me," I say quietly and see Katherine beam in the corner of my eyes.

"Lauren!!!" Lisa says happily and does a weird happy dance which I laugh at.

"Hey, if this boy hurts my Ladybug. I will hurt him," Lisa then says firmly as she stares at me, which I roll my eyes at.

"This is so great!!" Amy says happily and does a little fist bump with her hand.

"I knew he liked you!!" Christina says, I can't tell if she's happy or not but she says this in an obvious tone.

I just shrug my shoulders and say,

"And then he nearly died. Right in front of my eyes," I say, still shocked about what happened this morning.

"Aw Lauren, he's okay now though," Lisa says and holds my hand, she climbs into my bed and lays down next to me, stroking my back.

"Yea, just remember that Okay?" Katherine says calmly while she gets in to lie on the other side of me.

"So, are your friends coming to visit any time soon?" Amy says as her and Christina come to sit on my bed.

"Hopefully," I say and smile. They all give me big smiles and then Christina says,

"So do you still want us to come tomorrow?" She asks.

"Of course!" I say and she nods at me with a smile.

"Well, I know mom and dad are visiting tomorrow too," Lisa says and I smile at her which she returns.

"Hey, why don't I bring you cookies tomorrow? I'll bake them! Chocolate chip?" Kath says kindly, trying to keep the light hearted conversation up.

"Yes!" I say happily which causes the rest to laugh at me.

"How am I going to live without seeing you for one day Lolo?" Lisa says, I know she's talking about Sunday. The hospital doesn't allow visitors on Sunday, although I don't really know why.

"Ahh, I don't know aha. I'm amazing, admit it," I say jokingly and Lisa laughs light heartedly.

"You are amazing Lo," She tells me which causes me to blush.

"I'll probably spend Sunday with Jake," I say playing it cool, knowing I'm getting tons of questions after that statement.

"No more kissing!" Christina says and raises an eyebrow at me.

"Yeah, keep it PG Laur," Lisa tells me and pats my back playfully.

"Lisa!" I tell her annoyed and embarrassed by that.

"Oh that reminds me, do you want anything from home?" Christina asks me.

"Nope. I think I've got everything but uh, Dani's sweatshirt is on the chair over there. She left it here," I tell them and gesture towards the chair. Christina nods and gets up off the bed and goes to put it in her bag.

"Well, let's watch a movie!" Lisa says happily and grabs the TV remote. She skips through channels to find a channel playing a movie. We decided on watching The Hunger Games.

A few minutes into the movie, my back aches like crazy. It feels like someone is stabbing me in my back. I clutch my back, leaning over and scream,

"OW!"

"Lauren?! What's wrong??" Christina screams and moves out the way to help me.

"It h-hurts!" I scream, sobbing hysterically.

Lisa calls for a nurse while Christina hugs me carefully, trying to avoid my lower back.

"Here Sweetie. I'm going to give you some pain killers okay?" The nurse says and injects something into my IV drip. She then leaves the room and I sigh in relief.

"Oow," I say in relief as I gently lie down on my back again, my back already feeling a better. Christina pushes Katherine out the way from my side, Kath didn't complain as she knew that if I was in pain, Christina could easily make me feel better.

"Here, it's okay bug," Christina cuddles my side and lays down next to me. She rubs my back and arm while kissing my forehead every so often.

"Do you feel any better?" Lisa asks me from the other side of me.

I nod my head and close my eyes, taking deep breaths to slow down my racing heart. The meds have fully kicked in now and I begin to feel sleepy. Christina notices as she takes the remote and turns of the TV.

"Get some sleep sweetie," Christina whispers into my ear and I rest my head into her neck. She places a kiss onto my forehead and wraps her arms around me, cuddling me until I fall asleep.

"Hey Laur," Someone whispers quietly into my ear and gently rocks me. I stir awake and open my eyes to see Christina still lying next to me and Katherine waking me up.

"Someone wants to see you," She tells me and I nod. Then, a face comes into view and I smile at him.

"You scared me Jake," I tell him, regarding to the events of this morning.

"I'm sorry," He tells me kindly. He comes over to embrace me into a hug. Lisa then stirs next to me and looks around, causing me to move because she was lying asleep next to me.

"Hey, keep it PG bud," Lisa tells him and my face flushes in embarrassment. I roll my eyes at her and look down.

Jake doesn't say anything but smiles at Lisa awkwardly and then back at me, he looks at Lisa and then me back and forth.

"Lisa!" I shout at her, probably waking up Christina who was asleep on the other side of me. Since I was lying in the middle of the bed and Chris and Lisa were next to me, there was no room for him to sit.

Lisa just shrugs and then lies back down again.

"Sorry about her," I whisper and Jake shakes his head laughing a little bit.

"I like your sisters, and your brothers too. But your sisters are so funny. I wish I had sisters," He tells me.

"Yea well," I look around, Lisa is now asleep and so is Christina. Katherine has fallen asleep on a chair and Amy is lying on her.

I gesture to all of their sleeping bodies and we share a quick laugh.

"Well, I better get back. I have another therapy soon," He tells me and I instantly feel my heart sunk into my stomach.

"Bye Jake. Visit me again?" I tell him with a wave.

"Anything for you Laur," He tells me and then walks out of the room.

I quickly fall back asleep again on Christina's shoulder, dreaming about things that don't make sense once again.
