pete sat on his couch, as he watched some spongebob rerun that was on nickelodeon. it was one of the older episodes, so it was bound to be somewhat good.

it was only 8:15. mikey was still a pretty good distance away, and at this rate would probably not be back until 10.

pete's mother was already dressed up and ready to party. although the weather was not the most pleasent, that didn't stop her. she came down the stair's, face covered in bold makeup. the cold weather did not halt her choice of the deep red, scantily clad lace dress she had decided to wear. "how do I look?"

"mom.." pete said, completely speechless. "you look beautiful."

his mom gave her son a hug, wrapping her arms tightly around the boy. "oh, don't make me cry!" she laughed. "when's mikey coming?"

"he's still on the road." pete answered, sitting back down on the couch. "i miss him."

his mom smiled sadly at that comment, and sat down next to him. "young love." she said to herself, putting an arm around her son. "how've you been dealing with little mikey being gone?"

pete sighed. "i don't know." he dryly chuckled.

"i'm glad you have someone like mikey." his mom said.

pete felt a warm feeling rush over him. he was so glad to have accepting mother. "i love him so much. i'm glad you actually, i don't know... like him." pete put an arm around his mother.

"what time is he coming?"

pete shrugged. "dunno. probably ten, ish."

his mom smiled. "who else is coming?"

"just mikey."

his mom laughed at that. "sweetie, who else is coming."

he didn't answer initially, but sighed in defeat. "gabe, alex and a few others."

the older woman smiled largely at the mention of the first boy. "oh, gabe!" she chuckled. "i missed him!"

"hehe. yeah." pete responded.

"have you two been hanging out more lately?" she asked, sneezing shortly after. "allergies." she chuckled.

pete didn't respond for a second. "uh.. kinda." he shrugged. "i sort of only hang out with mikey and.. patrick maybe.." he stammered, coming into the realization that he had started to abandon all of his friends beyond mikey.

"pete, you can't just ignore all of your friends." his mother sighed.

"mom, i'm not ignoring them." he stated. "i talk to them in our groupchat-"

his mom sighed. "look, i don't get this technology lingo myself, but you need to get out there more, pete.." she got up from the couch, and stretched her arms out. "i get you're hanging out with them now, but you need to broaden your horizons beyond mikey."

pete sighed, he knew that his mother was right.

before the conversation could continue, the doorbell rang.

"i'll get it-" both of them said at the same time. his mom glared, but not taking it too seriously as he opened the door for pete.

outside of the door was a lanky figure. he was wearing a purple hoodie and low rise skinny jeans. the figure was carrying two jugs of limeade. "hey."

"gabe!" pete's mother exclaimed. "let me get this out of your way-" she took both jugs of the sugary drinks and ran over to the kitchen counter. gabe looked over at pete to see pete giving him a throat cutting gesture.
