"Get your gear losers! We're going out." I call walking into the kitchen. Everyone snapped from their daze to stare at me. "What?" Robin asks. "You heard me bird brain. Get a helmet and stuff were going out." I direct. Everyone rushes to grab their crap and I take a sticky note for Superboy writing a quick note on it and sticking it directly to the cabinet. "Ready?" I ask. "Yeah. Are you gonna put on your wig and stuff?" Robin asks. "No. I'm not in the mood to be covered." I answer. "Give me a minute though cause I refuse to go out in this." I ran to my room tearing off my sweats and sweat shirt and slipped into some black skinny jeans along with a grey tank top and a black leather jacket I quickly laced up my combat boots and tied my hair back. "Ready guys?" I ask yet again. "Ready...Holy jeez!" Wally turns around. "You really like leather." Artemis watches me pull on my fingerless gloves. "If you get in a crash on a motor cycle I want tight clothing to try and keep most of the pieces of my body together." I respond. "Wow. What happened to her?" Wally whispers to Robin as we start to leave. "Don't know." He responds. "You might not know what happened but you have to admit. It's pretty bad ass." Artemis mutters. "Megan you can't take the bio ship." I respond. She nodded and got on Superboy's bike. "I've been wanting to drive this out side." She giggles. Her clothes changed into an outfit much like mine but blue jeans and a blue denim jacket. "Where are we going?" Robin asks through the head set as we get on the highway. "When I was dispersed the last time I found some pretty cool places to go. The first place.... We're going for ice cream." I turned off and everyone followed me. "I've never heard of this place." Robin says. "When I dispersed I saw it and wanted to try it." I respond. Throwing my helmet off. We all walked in and I went directly up to the counter considering there was no line. "It's a little early for Halloween costumes isn't it?" He laughs at me. "Really? I was hoping it wasn't so that way I wouldn't have to tell you to return that mask." I snarled. "What can I get ya?" He asks. "Two scoops of mint chocolate chip and what ever they want." I respond. He nods smiling at me. "Why were you mean to him?" Megan asks. "He's easy to read and that's what he requires." I respond. "Is this the bad side of Happy Harbor?" Wally asks. "Maybe?" I question. "Lets go have fun!" I cheered seeing all of their faces go pale. "Ooh who wants to skate?" I ask looking at the skate boards in the windows. "Wow... You really wanna do something. Do you know how to skate?" Wally asks. "Not really but I'm sure someone could teach me." I respond. "Are you really going to ask a stranger to teach you?" Robin laughs. "Why not?" I question. "No reason I just don't think you'll do it." He smirks. "Place your bets I'm going to go get a board. And stuff then we'll go to the nearest skate park and the first stranger who is skating you point out I will get them to teach me." I state. Entering the shop I quickly grabbed one and paid for it. "Thanks man!" I wave leaving the shop. "Let's go!" I cheered yet again. We found a skate park littered with teens and each one of them looked pretty sketchy. Robin locked the bikes up and I grabbed the board. "Try him." Robin pointed to a mean looking older boy who had two men around him. "Excuse me. Can I talk to that person right there?" I ask the gaurd polietly. "Scram kid!" He shouts in my face. "Oh no see that won't work." I grabbed the man by his ear. "You listen here I need to speak with the person standing behind you and if you don't let me through voluntarily I will rip your ear off. Is that clear?" I ask. "Yes ma'am." He steps away and I step up to the boy. "Excuse me." I tap his shoulder. "What?" He spits at me.
I wiped his saliva off of my face and put on a fake smile. "Listen I have a bet with my friends that I can't get you to teach me to skate. And I require your assistance to win that bet." I say. "What do I get?" He glares at me. I turned to the other gaurd and called out. "Hey Tiny step a bit to the left." I call he glares but does it. And I reached forward taking the boys collar in my fists. "If you help me. You can keep those tiny family jewels." I glare. "I'll help! But if you don't want your friends to know you'll have to do something." He says. "Like?" I ask. "Tiny move." He says quickly before planting his lips on mine. Once he released me I spit on the ground. "Good let's go tell my friends. What's your name?" I ask. "Ace." He smirks. "Let's go Ace. And don't worry Tiny and Lug he'll be back soon." I waved to the gaurds. My friends stared wide eyed. "He says he'll help me skate." I smirk. Robin groaned and handed Wally a ten and so did Artemis Aqualad and Megan. "You all bet against me?" I say suprised. "No we all bet for you other than Robin. But Wally bet that you would kiss him. Artemis bet that he would come out with a bloody nose. Cal bet that you wouldn't let it get physical and I bet that you would simply beat one person up and then no physical contact." Megan defends. "Nice Wally!" I cheer. "Teach." I turned to the boy. "Face them." Ace says. I did so and he pushed me. I put a foot out to stop. "Right foot is dominant." He says. "Stand on the board. Push off with right foot toes down for one direction heel down for the other. Brake by putting your foot down." He states boredly. "Stand on board..." I mutter to my self. As I started to fall Ace put his hands on my waist. "Thanks Ace." I respond. I felt his hand creep down and took his hands off of me. "No touchy." I glare. Pushing off I carefully went off. Happily making it to the other end.
"Thanks Ace!" I pat his head. "No prob babe." He smirks laying a hand around my waist. "Um no." I move away. "Let's go guys." I respond. "Aww come on babe." He whines loudly. "It was one kiss, Ace. And by the way it wasn't very good!" I flip him off as we walk away. "Tiny!" He shouts at his gaurd. "Ooh what a rush! Come on guys!" I grabbed Robin's hand and took off everyone following close behind. "What are we doing?" Megan asks. "Getting out of here before Tiny catches up." I giggle. We all got on the bikes and carefully drove off almost running over Tiny. "Bye Tiny!" I giggle. "What was that?" Artemis shouts through the head set. "Come on! I never get to live! That was epic." I defend. "Sarah whats been up with you?" Robin asks. "Nothing why?" I ask trying not to alert them. "Stop here guys." Robin pulled off the freeway and led us to a park. "Tell us what's wrong." He says. "It's the exercise isn't it?" Artemis asks. "Why won't you tell us?" Aqualad asks.
Why won't you tell them Sarah?
Yeah Sarah tell them.
Or don't.
You don't want to lose them.
"It's just that. I don't want you guys to think I didn't try." I mutter. "Didn't try? You saved Artemis's life." Wally brings up. "It's what happened after that that scares me."
Scary scary!
Hopefully they don't hate you for not trying.
"What happened?" Robin asks as he carefully guided me to a bench. "I don't know. But the beam hit me and it hurt. But when my body disintegrated I... It.....All....I was everywhere. I saw everything. And I couldn't get out. I had to watch all of you. I had to watch. I didn't know what to do. I thought of electricuting the system but I knew that it was Martian Man Hunter and didn't want to risk frying his brain or trapping you guys. I didn't know what to do. I tried re-assmebling. I tried to reach out to you guys but no one heard me. I tried so so much. But I was everywhere. I saw so much I heard so much." I stopped talking. "Why wouldn't you tell us?" Wally asks. "I was afraid that you would all think I never tried." I respond looking at my legs.
I love that you're ignoring the fact you've seen all of them die.
Or the fact you can still hear their screams of agony.
Or even the fact you can still see it.
"You can still see it?" Megan asks. "Yeah. I can't close my eyes with out seeing it. And when it's quiet I can only hear the sadness but not just of you guys. I can hear it from all over the world." I reply not looking up. "I'm so sorry." She hugged me tightly. "It will be okay. I'm pretty sure I'm just going insane." I tried to laugh it off. "You're not going insane." Robin says. "He's right it's just a few bad memories all we have to do is over write those with good memories." Artemis smiles. I'm so lucky to have such great friends.
