Male #8: Leantoshka Aureli

Name: Leantoshka Aureli

Age: 65

Gender: Male

Appearance: Leantoshka stands about 6’3’’ tall, towering over many of his friends. He is pale-skinned, with receding gray hair that lacks the Capital’s normal dyes and extensions. His eyes are a flat, icy blue, making many of his customers in the Capital uncomfortable, especially when they try to haggle over cost of his services. His favorite color is green, and all the clothes he wears incorporate green somewhere in the design. His main distinguishing feature is his tattoo of the World Tree, which rises up his back, with areas in each for the nine realms. The top of the tree, with an eagle and some leaves, reaches the back of his neck. Though old and seemingly overweight, his job keeps him strong and dextrous.

Personality: Leantoshka is the essence of a crotchety old man. He is intensely distrustful of any product of the districts that has not undergone processing by Capital officials. This doesn’t work out very well for him, though, as he also views his fellow citizen as “incompetent, flighty, self-obsessed punks who have never done an honest day’s work in their lives.” As one might guess, he doesn’t have many friends. This innate anti-sociality can only endure because of an iron will and fierce self-sufficiency.

History: Leantoshka was born and raised in the Capital. When he was seventeen, an uprising from the districts claimed the lives of his mother and father. Due to this, he watched all subsequent Hunger Games with a certain degree of satisfaction. When he turned eighteen, he took over his father’s tailoring business. He continued to maintain the business alone until the age of forty, by which time he had acquired a jaded cynicism of both the Capital’s extravagances and the districts’s extremism. It was then that he met and married his wife, Sapphire, a high ranking official to the president. Since then, they have grown more and more estranged.

Reason for participating: He wants to get away from his wife. For five years, Leantoshka has tried to get a divorce from his wife. However, as an official of high stature in the government of Panem, Sapphire is stonewalling progress.  As he grew more and more desperate to escape the marriage, Leantoshka began to despair of finding a way out. However, when the opportunity presented itself, he immediately enrolled in the Games. If he reached the position of Head Gamemaker, he would have unparalleled influence in the government. He would then use his newfound power to end the marriage.

Skills: A master tailor, Leantoshka has great skill with thread and dye. He has a thorough knowledge of plants, poisons, and weaving due to his distrust of imported goods. He understands many gardening principles and agriculture in general, and his job as retailer trained him to read body language and assess muscle and fat at a glance.

Favorite tribute type: Leantoshka has little patience with ooey-gooey sentimentality as found in many games beforehand. His unpleasant experience with love has taught him to regard the relationships of others with contempt. The tributes are here to fight and die, he reasons. Thus, an efficient, rational tribute is his favorite type.

Weapon of choice: Leather garrote or poisoned sewing needles.
