The Balance Restored part 2

Part 1

    Entering the base was the easy part, now we had to climb through the the air vents.  The vents are only about four feet wide and only about three feet tall.  My back glides alone the top of the vent as we crawl.  Poe leads and I take up the back,  Finn navigates telling Poe which turn to take.  "Left then right." He says, we finally reach an opening going down to the generator.  "We have to jump,  but it's like 30 feet".  I'm instantly nervous, Poe jumps first.  He hits the ground loosing his balance and falling into the generator.  Then Finn jumps, his fall is more graceful than Poe's as he jumps and manages to stay on his feet.  I brace myself for the fall and take the leap.  My stomach drops and I hit the floor with a bang.  "Alright, Finn help me place the bomb. Ben keep watch around that corridor" I walk toward the opening with my lightsaber ready in hand.  I think about where we are, this place was my home for so long.  Suddenly I hear screaming, the voice is distant but clearly a woman's.  "Did you guys hear that?" Finn walks over as Poe continues to set the bomb.  "Hear what?" He listens.  The screaming continues "who is..." Finn rushes over to Poe and say something I can't make out Poe nods.  Fin joggs back over to me.  "Come on we have to go" He gestures to the opening. I follow him,  as soon as we round the corner the sound is instantly recognizable.  Rey.  The screams came from Rey.  Panic shoots through my body like lightning.  I quicken my pace.  "Where are we going we don't know where she is!" I yell to Finn as he turns down different halls trying to find the source of the voice.  'Rey can you hear me' I think.  No response.  I stop, take a deep breath.  I can feel her, I reach out sensing her presence.  "Finn!" He turns quickly around to face me.  "I know where she is follow me".
      "So what are you going to do?" Zara said.  I brace myself, "I will kill Kylo Ren for what he did to supreme leader Snoke.  I will finish what his grandfather Darth Vader started."  As if she can feel the nervousness radiating off of me she begins to reassure me.  "Rey, you can do this" she gestures at the door where Hux stands waiting for me.  I walk to the door, I've been sensing him this entire time.  I can feel him near as if he were in the room.  I walk aimlessly with only the force to guide me.  I walk down a long bridge, I continue my search.  I feel him, then I hear him.  "Rey!" I turn on my heels so fast that I almost slip. He walks quickly toward me.  His face is stern but not angry.  I pull out my saber from my belt.  He looks confused at this act.  I hold the saber between us.  "Kylo" I say, waiting for him to attack.  "Rey, what are you..that's not my name."  His expression changes to sadness and worry.  "How do you know my name?" I snap back at him.  His frustration shows on his face.  "Rey we have known each other for months now.  We...we love each other".
    She looks at me with confusion.  I don't understand, who could have done this snoke is dead.  "Your lying!"  She yells at me dropping the saber to her side.  "Rey you have to remember." She looks startled by the kindness in my voice.  "Rey try to remember the day I took you ice skating, when you kissed me after you fell into my arms." She turns away a begins to walk a few steps.  "They are the ones lying to you Rey, Hux is lying!" She turns around tears streaming down her face.  "Rey remember the day I fought the first order to save your life, the day you first told me you loved me Rey!" She runs at me with her lightsaber raised.  I pull out mine and block the blow.  She continues to swing at me, "Rey stop just let me talk to you!" She stops but continues to hold her saber at the ready to strike again.  "Do you think I'm just making this up, I love you Rey you are everything to me. Your my other half, you made me feel loved when I thought no one could ever love me.  You made me see the light when i thought I was to far in the dark to ever escape.  You are the only thing I live for Rey!" She is sobbing her lightsaber defused.  Rey falls to her knees and I see guards coming out from the other side of the bridge.  "I don't know what to believe anymore. She whispers as I kneel at her side.  "Come on Rey come with me" I put my hand out to help her up.  "I can't I belong here, I belong with Zara.  We will rule the galaxy together." She looks down at her feet.  Taking my lightsaber from my hand she swipes it across her leg leaving a gash gushing blood.  She screams in agony hands the saber back to me.  "Run!"  She says clenching her fists.  I turn and do as she says. Meeting up with Poe and Finn, we can't use the vents to get out because it will take to long so we take out chance trying to leave out the door.  Poe starts working on getting the door open while Finn and I cover him.  Storm troopers flood the room,  Finn shoots  down the first line of them.  I ignite my lightsaber strike down three troopers in my path.  I pull out the blaster from my boot and shoot with one hand while blocking with my other. "Got it!" The door opens with a swish and we run out.  Blocking shots with my lightsaber, Poe and Finn climb the ladder.  Finally the get to the top and throw down the end of my grappling gun.  I grab hold and am lifted up quickly.  On the way up a blaster hits me in the side where I'm still healing.  Blood runs down my leg.  Climbing onto the tower, the pain in my side is excruciating but I run through the woods with Poe and Finn.  Boarding out X-Wings I here the clang of blasts hitting the ship.  The ship lifts off the ground and I head back to base.
     "What happened!" Zara yells at me as the droid stitches up my leg.  "I couldn't do it, he's stronger than me. May I remind you he's huge and almost a head taller than me!" I heal back matching her tone.  "You are strong with the dark side of the force you could have beat him.  He makes you weak, you didn't give it your all." She turns away from me.  "Master I will train and try again.  He will not beat me again." My voice is quiet but clear.  My failure wasn't in Kylo physically overpowering me, it was in letting my compassion get the best of me.  But no more, Kylo Ren will bow at the feet of the first order.
    "Five days, five days!" I yell at mom in pure anger.  "She's been gone for five days and you haven't sent anyone to get her!" Rey is one of our own if it had been me there she would have spared no expense to get me back.  "Do not yell at me Ben, I am not only your mother but your general and you will obey my wishes." She says calmly.  "Finn is going to retrieve Rey today, he will be back by the morning." I turn to face her as I have been pacing the room for half an hour.  "No, send anyone but him.  Send me." I say eagerly even though I know she won't allow me to go.  "Finn is going and that is final.  I want a face that Rey may remember.  They may not have taken her memories of him. She tried to kill you I can't let you go out yourself in danger again."  A long sigh escapes my mouth.  "So he's going to bring her home?" She puts her hand on my back to comfort me.  "Don't worry, your love is strong.  The force bond makes it so.  Ben she has compassion in her heart and that will overcome the darkness put inside her."  I nod and wrap my arms around her.  I may not agree with my mother all the time but she is wise.  I leave the room to get some air. 
   When they showed me the room it felt vaguely familiar, it gave me a feeling of butterflies in my stomach.  Every night I have dreams of a man whose face I can't see.  I get in the bed to go to sleep, watching out the small window near the bathroom door.  Finally I fall asleep.  In my dream I am standing on ice, gliding over it like I'm floating on air.  The man glides next to me in the same spot every time. He where's all black and his black hood covers his face just enough that I can't see who he is.  I am awoken from the dream with the feeling of being carried.  I open my drowsy eyes and see a dark figure over me.  I can feel arms around my body.  My body fills with panic, I shake to get onto my feet but the arms tighten around me.  A hand falls over my mouth with a piece of cloth between them.  I feel my body go numb I can't move my arms or legs.  I hear the sound of guns firing, and loud footsteps on a metal platform. I'm laid down on a cot.  I can tell by the feel of the arms it's a man, but I'm relaxed by his gentleness in setting me down.  He moves to the control and I can hear us lift off.  Finally I give into the tired feeling and sleep. 
   "Ben, she's here" I look at the clock next to my cot. Two o'clock, I shoot up and lace up my boots." My mom gives me a judgmental look and I look down at myself I have on a black t-shirt and a pair of boxers.  "You going like that?" She points out.  "Give me a minute to get dressed" she leaves me to change and I throw on some black pants.  I run down the hallway in the hanger where the ship touches down.  I stand there waiting, Finn emerges from the exhaust carrying Rey in his arms.  She's asleep, her limp body lays across him.  I'm suddenly hit with jealousy.  "We should let her rest you can speak to her in the morning" she walks off as I watch Finn take Rey to the cell I stayed in for weeks when I got here. 
     I wake up and my head is throbbing.  I rub my eyes but the room around me is unfamiliar.  Yet familiar at the same time.  Like I had never been there but had seen it in a dream.  I jump when I see a man sitting in the corner.  "Where am I?" I yell at him.  He doesn't look up at me but stares at his feet.  "Hello? Who are you? Why did you bring me here?" The man looks up at me.  He has soft brown eyes and dark skin.  "My names Finn.  I'm you best friend Rey." I look at him with confusion.  "We have never met" I say though technically he carried me yesterday so that counts.  "No Rey all your memories were changed and taken by the first order.  You aren't you, the old you was light.  I was friends with that you."  "Your lying, all of you rebel scum! Your lying." He looks at me, there I no anger in his eyes only gentleness.  His face is kind and almost calming.  "Rey you know it's true deep down.  You remember this room everyday you came to visit him and the day I walked in on you guys.  You have to look deep inside yourself." He gets up and walks wordlessly out the door.  A older woman with grey hair pinned up in a tight bun walks in after him.  "Hi Rey" she waves a at me slightly.  "How are you feeling?" She speaks softly.  I sit up on the bed and lean against the wall.  "My head's throbbing, but could someone tell me where I am and why I'm here?" Her face hardens.  "Your at the rebel base, im general Organa but you can call me Leia."  She sits quietly for a moment.  I have to find a way out, there is a window with bars and a cell door.  "Rey, if you feel up for it Ben would like to speak with you" the sound of his name makes me shiver.  He's the reason I'm here, If I had killed him when I had a chance none of this would have ever happened.  I nod, there is a small knife I keep hidden in the wraps on my arms.  When I get close enough I'll kill him. 
    "It's time Ben" I sit on the end of my bed thinking of what I'm going to say.  I get up and follow her to the cell I know all too well.  The guard opens the door and I walk in slowly.  She sits on the cot her head down looking at her folded legs.  She looks up when I enter I sit in the chair across the room from her.  "Ben" she says with a smile. "Hey Rey how are you feeling" her face is soft and not at all what I had been when I saw her at the first order base.  "Nauseous but I'll be fine soon" we sit in silence for a moment.  "Why are you so far away, come sit". She pats the bed beside her, I'm hesitant but walk over and sit.  Putting a bit of distance between us makes me long to touch her skin.  I want to lean in and kiss her soft lips but I stay where I am.  she scoots a little closer and kisses my forehead.  I return the kiss on the lips, starting off with a soft touch then deepening.  My eyes are closed but I can feel her moving.  Then a cold pressure on my neck.  "Your going to get up slowly and let me out of this cell." She says softly into my ear.  I take a deep breath, "what do you think your going to get out of here there are guards everywhere". With her destructed I wrap my hand around hers that is holding the dagger.  I'm stronger than her and easily take push it away and rip it out of her hand. I put both hands on her face I think of the time we first kissed.  Using the force I made her see it.  I made her see that iced lake and the day Finn walked in on us.  She pushes my hands off and backs against the wall.  "What was that!" She says.  "That was my memories of you.  Everything that made me fall in love with you." She looks confused.  "I can't tell what's a lie and what's the truth. I can't tell my real feelings from what was ingrained in my brain."  Tears flood down her face. "Rey everything we had, is really you just have to remember."  She gets up from her place on the bed and walks to the other side of the room.  "Show me again" she says softly.  I stand and join her.  Placing her hands on my face I flood her mind with the memories.  I'm not sure how long we have been standing here but I don't want to move.  She's sobbing and I feel the tears run down my hand.  She wraps her arms around my neck tightly. 
     I'm balling into Bens black shirt, I don't know what I feel for him now but I know that at one point I loved him and Zara took that from me.  She took everything, my mind wants me to hate him but my heart wants me to stay here holding on to him for as long as I can. I look at his face and place my hand on the scar running over his eye and down his cheek.  "How did you get this" I'm suddenly in a forest.  I see myself running at me, I'm Ben in this memory.  I block shots and swing my saber.  Then finally I slice Ben's face and he falls to the ground helpless.  "I'm so sorry I hurt you."  He looks down at my hands that are suddenly intertwined with his.  "Every time I look in the mirror at that a that scar I think of you.  Our lives have been pretty messy but I wouldn't have changed anything because it led me to you."  I feel happy which I haven't felt in a long time.  "Let's get you out of this cell" I look at him confused.  He walks over to cell door "you will let us out of this cell and tell no one we have left" the man's eyes go glassy.  "I will let you out of this cell and tell no one you have left". He proceeds to open the door and let us leave.  Everything about this place was familiar, like I had seen it in another life.  Walking down the hall I follow Ben with my head down.  We enter a bedroom.
