We went downstairs holding hands. She squeezed my hand so tightly it started going numb.
"Hey calm down it's going to be ok"
"Oh right" She muttered. I felt her body relax a bit. We walked into the living room where Bianca's mom was on the couch. She looked up from her phone when we walked in.
"Hey. Oh hi Aubrey I didn't see you come in." She said. Me and Bianca shared a smile.
"Hi Mrs. Robert um we just wanted to ask you something." I nudge Bianca forward. She elbows me back. I clear my throat louder than necessary. She sticks out her tongue. Mrs Robert shakes her head at our behaviour. I step forward.
"She got asked out by a boy she really likes. Can she go? Pleeeeease?" I say all in one breath. Mrs Roberts studies our faces for a minute.
"Who is he?" She finally says
"Ethan" Bianca peeps.
"And he asked you out?" She says. We nod. All of a sudden her mom starts laughing and clapping her hands. We stare at her in confusion.
"Um B. is your mom ok?" I'll ask out of the side of my mouth.
"I don't know" She answers our eyes still on mrs Robert. When she got ahold of herself she wiped her eyes and looked at our open mouths and smiled at us.
"You're dad was right"
"What" We say in unison
"You're dad thought you would ask him out and Mr Bailey thought he would ask you out." She answered
We stare at her for a full minute then I get ahold of myself first and shake my head to clear it.
"How long have you known?"
"Since the beginning of 7th grade."
We stare at each other in horror
"Well that was...unexpected." I say
"So I can go?" Bianca asks
"Yeah when and where?"
"Tomorrow at the movies" Bianca says
"And it is just the two of you or a group thing?" She questions
"Group" Bianca says
"Okay good. And I assume you will be going too." She looks pointedly at me.
"Yes"
"Alright have fun" She waves us off as we head upstairs.
"OK lets pick your outfit" I say as soon as we are safely back in the peace and quiet of her room. I head over to her closet and through it open. I pull out random options. I choose a black hat, Adidas sweatshirt, skinny jeans, and white Adidas for her.
