chapter 9: "i am not responsible for your injuries"

" wow you are a really talented artist!! These drawings are amazing!" I said motioning to Alex's sketches.

" Ehh they're OK but thanks. Hey do you have to babysit your cousins again today?" he asked

"Yup" I said popping the P

"You want help?" He asked raising an eyebrow. Awe. I hesitate tho. I'm don't usually spend most of my days with boys. I'm just too awkward. Plus once my parents hear that I am babysitting and hanging out with a boy, they'll freak. I'm freaking out, myself. I have never been in a relationship and provably never will be. I just don't know how to girlfriend. (A/n Lol)

"Sooo" he asks poking my arm.

Bianca wiggled her eyebrows at us from across the room. The teacher had to separate us because we were 'too distracting'

"Sure If you want I guess" i reply

"Uh well if you don't want me to that's fine too" he says noticing my hesitant answer.

"No no its fine" I say quickly

"OK see you after school then. Do you want me to drive you?"

"Sure"

I wait outside the highschool for Alex. I don't know where his car is or what it looks like. A Chevy truck pulls up and I look in to find Alex motioning to jump in.

"Hey. Thanks for bringing me."

"Yeah no problem."

Once we got to his house I told him I had to call my mom. He nodded and said he was going upstairs to change.

After I told my mom a friend brought me to my aunts I called bianca.

"Hey girl what's up" she said sounding chipper.

"Hey um I'm at Alex's house right now"

I held the phone away from my ear waiting for the ear splitting scream. I brought it closer .

"Ahh shhhh" I yelped when she did scream.

"Oh my gosh ahhhh you got a boyfriend, you got a boyfriend my best friend finally got a boyfriend." She sang

" shut up Bianca. He is only helping me out. Wait I got to go. Talk to you later"

"OK and you will be calling me later" I rolled my eyes and hung up as Alex walked out wearing a different shirt and sweat pants.

"Hey are you hungry? I was just going to make a quesadilla. " He asked heading into his kitchen.

"I'm OK" I said. Just at that moment my stomach decided it should growl at the mention of food. He smirked.

"Sure I would love one thanks" I said.

As he makes the food I glance around his house. It was a tidy place small but cozy.

"Nice house"

"Thanks" he says from the kitchen. I stand off to the side awkwardly not knowing what to do.

"Can you grab the plates" he asks noticing my discomfort nodding to where they are kept.

"Sure" I grab two paper plated and place them near the stove.

"Thanks" he says before another awkward silence spreads like a sheet of mist throughout the house.

We eat in silence. I feel like every little disgusting mouth noise I makes echoes. Ugh I am so awkward. Help me.

Suddenly his phone rings thank God I'm saved. He answers and steps into another room.

"Sorry Aubrey I can't help you babysit today. My mom has a needs me to run an errand. I can help later if you want."

"Oh that's fine. You can drop bye anytime." Why did I say this.

"Ok well see yah" we walk out together and I jog to my aunts house

"Hey! Sorry I'm early" I say to my aunt as the kids tackle me in their hugs

"Haha no problem. Do you mind taking them outside while I finish getting ready?"

"yah sure"

"Oh Aubrey I forgot your mom told me your siblings were coming over because she doesn't want them home alone."

" oh uh OK" ahhhh why they are going to ruin everything. At least they'll keep jay and tom busy.

With aria and mark here everything got hectic. The boys were chasing Aria while I played Barbie with Candace. I have been sitting here playing barbie for a good solid hour but as long as the other kids didn't break anything it was all good.

The doorbell suddenly rings and I get up to see who it is. Alex is standing there smiling like the adorable goofball he is.

" hi um I was bored so thought I'd drop by and see if you wanted some company." He grinned.

"Are you sure it wasn't cause you missed me" I smirked at him and his cheeks tinged red with a blush.

"Of course it was" he smirked back at me as he took a step closer. Soon we were inches apart, and I felt my heart thudding, wondering if we would kiss, but then the kids came running through and we fell together as they stampeded through.

"Well hello there" He grins at me. My face burns, knowing what could have happened there.

Candace trots up to us and squeezed herself between us. We look at her then each other and laugh.

"I ant a ug oo" she says her face squished. We separate and Alex squats down and high fives her.

When the kids come through again I push us all to the side of the wall.

"They seem to have multiplied" he joked

"Yup half are cousins half are siblings" I sigh

"Wow" he says as we walk back to the living room. "Barbies huh"

"Yes come play with me. You can be this one" Candace shouts dragging him over and handing him a guy.

I laugh a him. Finally I can do something else. When my smirk faded as Alex grabbed my arm and pulled me down next to him.

"Here you-" Candace is cut off by me trying to make an excuse and go somewhere else.

"No I have to get some water" I say the first excuse that pops into my mind.

He let's go and I make a dash for it.

" haha suckers" I snicker evilly while I make my getaway.

Alex pretends not to notice but once I am out of eyeshot he makes eye contact with Candace and they get up and start chasing after me.

" tee" I pant holding up my hands. Alex advances slowly

"There's no tee for the tickle monster" Alex smirks as he keeps me trapped between the fridge and counter. There was no escape for me.

"Hey kids" he hollers. It slowly dawns one what he is going to do.

"You wouldn't" I narrow my eyes
"Oh I would" he grins evilly. All 6 kids come running and Alex steps away and I scramble to get away.

"Tickle monster" they all scream and tackle me.

"I am not responsible for your injuries" i shout

Later that night I thought about all that happened. We were so close was he going to kiss me? I am getting so comfortable around him. I have never been this comfortable around a boy ever. I am always afraid I will say something stupid but I always do that. What am I going to do about the Sadie Hawkins dance? I have never asked a boy to one of these before. It had always been me and bianca together.

All my worries and fears swirled around in my head as I drifted off.
