I walked into my house a second after Damon, and we saw Anna and her mother Pearl.

"Hello, Damon," Pearl said. "Hello, Kaylin."

I looked at Pearl, in a business dress. Big difference from the clothes she wore in 1864. "I think I like you better in modern wear." I sat down. "But you two ever hear of knocking?"

"An invitation wasn't necessary," Pearl said. "I'm surprised no living person resides here. Is it just you and your brothers?"

"Yeah," Anna said.  "How do you keep out unwelcome vampires?"

"We kill them," Damon said.

He rushed toward Pearl, and I watched as Damon tried to strangle her, but she pried his hand away and pushed him onto the couch next to me.

I smirked as Pearl said, "Have a seat next to your sister, Damon. I was hoping we could have a word."

"Sure."

"We've taken up residence at a farm house just outside the town," Pearl told us. "It'll suffice for now."

"All 25 vampires?" I asked.

"Not all, some. I imagine that a few have already left town. Others are probably still in the woods, or, like us, acclimating."

I looked from Pearl to Anna to me in complete confusion and exasperation. "How did they get out of the tomb?"

"I think the witch screwed up that part of her hocus pocus," Anna said, with me nodding sarcastically.

"I understand from Anna that the Founding Families still have a secret council?" Pearl asked.

"And you're a part of it," Anna  added, looking at Damon.

"That's ridiculous," Damon denied while I looked between them in sly silence.

"I've been in Mystic Falls since the comet, Damon," Anna said. "I'm up to speed."

"And so am I," Pearl said. "And now that you've infiltrated the Council, I'll need to know everything they know. Starting with a listing names of all the Council names and families."

"And everyone you've supplied with vervain," Anna said, making Damon glare toward her.

"Yes, that will have to stop immediately."

"What exactly are you trying to achieve?" Damon asked.

"Mystic Falls is our home, Damon," Pearl told him. "They took that from us. Our land, our home. It's time we rebuild."

"What, are you crazy?" I asked. "It was 1864. Wake up, woman! The world has moved on."

Ignoring me, Pearl turned to Damon. "As a reward for your help, I'm willing to give you want you want most."

"I want nothing," Damon said.

"Katherine."

Damon hesitated. "You wouldn't even know where she was. You have been under the ground for the last century and a half."

"Katherine and I were best friends long before we came to Mystic Falls, Damon. I know how she thinks, I know her patterns, I know where to find her."

"I no longer have any desire to see Katherine ever again. And there's no way in hell I'm gonna play the role of your little minion."

Pearl stood and pushed Damon to the couch. "I'm not asking for your help, Damon. Finding Katherine was just a mere gesture of kindness. The rest is non-negotinable."

Turned and rushing, Pearl dug her fingers into Damon's eyes so fast they were out before the time I stood from the couch, Damon falling to the floor as I told them, "Okay, out. Everybody out."

Pearl looked toward me. "I have four hundred years on you, little girl. I'll rip you limb from limb without even blinking and you know it."

"Then you won't get Damon's help, will you?" I asked.

Pearl didn't answer. "I'll be in touch."

As she walked to the door, I looked toward Anna, speaking but not necessarily feeling well about this, starting to follow Pearl as I knelt next to my brother. "You okay?"

I was sitting in the living room  when Stefan brought his triple date here. Him and Elena.

Caroline and Matt . . .

"This is much better than watching Damon visit cougar town," Caroline said, then looked at Matt. "No offense."

"Don't remind me," Matt said as Kaylin stood.

"Oh, hey, Kay," Caroline said awkwardly, Elena looking toward Stefan as  Matt looked regretful and a little guilty.

"Hey, guys," I said. "I'm crashing the party, I'll be anywhere else in the house."

Stefan sighed like he was realizing just now it was a bad idea to bring them here as I walked out of the room.

I poured a glass of tequila when Damon walked into the library. "You remember when our mother died of consumption? You should really cut back."

"I'm not gonna take drinking advice from a blood junkie lunatic," I said as she took a sip. "Or from someone who would kiss the mother of his sister's ex-boyfriend."

"Don't give me the guilt trip, Kaylin," Damon said.

Stefan walked in, giving Damon a disapproving look.

"Don't look at me like that," Damon said.

"Are you crazy?" Stefan demanded.

"Save the lecture. Look--"

A blur jumped through the window, shattering it, jumping on Stefan and stabbing him with a piece of glass.

Wait. Wasn't that Fredrick?

I rushed off the couch, pushing Fredrick off of Stefan and towards Damon, who started to fight with him.

I quickly pulled out the glass from Stefan's chest and turned to Fredrick's girlfriend Beth-Anne, pushing her back.

Throwing the piece of glass with vampire speed and strength, I threw it into her back, with her falling  as I broke off a leg of a chair, throwing it to Stefan, who staked Beth-Anne in her heart.

Damon threw Fredrick across the room, who looked from us to a desiccating Beth-Anne. Damon standing on my left side, Stefan standing on my right side. Then Fredrick disappeared.

"Damn it," Damon said.

"I remember them, from 1864," Stefan said. "They were in the tomb."

"Yeah . . ." I trailed off.  "About that."

I dragged Beth-Anne's body.

I looked from Stefan as he hung up his phone to Damon pouring himself a drink. "Could you guys help me out a little bit?"

Neither answered.

What the hell were we supposed to do?
