A tall, very handsome guy was walking around looking for something.

"Oh my.." I choked out."He is.."

"Yeah", Sophie breathed.

In the distant background I think I heard Steve sigh.

The guy - more accurately a man - had dark black hair that fluffed around his head in a perfect quiff, his face looked serious and concentrated with strong furrowed brows, his jawline was so sharp I knew he could cut me with it anytime. His tall frame consisted of broad shoulders that led down to his small waist. He had the perfect Dorito-ratio. His thighs were thick and muscular and his dress style consisted of a simple black t-shirt, leather jacket and jeans. I knew all this of course from discussing it in detail with Sophie later on that night.

I was in love from ten yards away.

"Who is he?" I needed to know him.

"I'm not sure I think he could be a new stud-oh!" Sophie's eyes widened, "yes of course! I was assigned to look after the new student today from the council, I completely forgot about it."

I pounced on her arm and we both jumped up and down squealing. Steve grimaced and covered his ears, "jeez, could you guys be more obvious? I'm gonna be deaf soon if you don't stop."

We quietened down because we knew he was right, Mr.Hottie McTottie was going to notice and I'd be damned if I was going to give a bad first impression. "Soph c'mon you gotta become his friend and then be my wing-man."

"Would it not be wing-woman?" Steve questioned but I shushed him with my hand explaining how it was very 2018 to not succumb to gendered adjectives. I ignored his eye-roll.

"Hell to the no Liz, I need a date to prom and he's exactly what I've been looking for."

I didn't argue. She was gorgeous, intelligent and probably one of the nicest people you could ever meet. I just smiled and nodded in acceptance. If she wanted him I definitely had no chance. I decided to put him out of my mind. Oh well, at least there was a moment where I had hope.

The bell rang, signalling the end of lunch and whatever stupid moment of delirium I'd had. I headed to my new class and pretended not to notice Sophie cheerily walking over to the new guy. Biology was going to have to take my mind off it.

The rest of the school day was uneventful. I didn't see Sophie after that.
