At the end of the day, I wished I had a Time Turner. I shouldn't've made the deal with Bellatrix, I shouldn't've talked to anyone, I should've just stayed in the background and let everyone else run this stupid play.

I sulked over to the library for detention. The librarian smiled at me. I handed her my detention slip. She looked extremely surprised when she read it. Then, she pointed to an empty table.

I sat down and put my head in my arms. “What seems to be the problem?" A familiar voice asked.

“I don't want to talk about it." I mumbled.

“Sure you do. Everyone wants to talk to Sirius Black!"

“No." I said.

I looked up and saw Sirius frowning. “Where's James?" I asked

“Probably trying to woo Evens." he replied casually.

“Won't he get in trouble?"

“Nah, I'll cover for him."

We sat in silence for many awkward minutes. Sirius whistled and carved into the wooden tables. I just glanced around the library, longing to live with my favourite characters. Sirius and I got many weird looks. I could tell what they were thinking: 'Why was Sirius Black-one of the most popular people in Hogwarts- hanging out with a loser in the library?'

“What's it like to have a best friend?" I said after a while.

“What?"

“Well, what's it like to have someone who you can always rely to catch you when you fall?"

“I-I never really thought of that..." he replied, a little shocked.

“I understand, you don't really appreciate friends until you really need them out they're... gone..."

“Who are your friends?"

“Don't really have any."

“Oh, sorry." he muttered.

“It's fine. A lot of people have that reaction when they talk to me. Who wants to be friends with the friendless? There's got to be a reason, right? Why they don't have any friends."

Detention was very uncomfortable. But during those awkward moments, I realized what was really going on. Bellatrix want ready trying to befriend me because of she was, there would be no way for me to hang out with Sirius, Peter, Remus, and James.

If I were to ignore Bellatrix, she would definitely get me back. If I befriended James and co. then I would be betraying them. My life really sucks. I began to bash my head on the table. Sirius have me a weird look. “Sorry, I'm just confused." I mumbled.

“Don't worry, in always confused." he replied. This time I have him a weird look. “It's a joke," he said, “you're supposed to laugh."

I smiled, “I know, but you and your cousin are just so... different..."

“Bellatrix?" he said with disgust. He made a really stupid looking face. I let out a short laugh/scoff. “When did you have the displeasure if meeting her?"

“Herbology." I explained. “Well, stick with us and you'll never have to talk to them again." he told me.

“Doubt that." I muttered under my breath. “What did you say?" Sirius asked.

“Nothing." it took me a moment to process what he just said. “Wait, did you just say I could-I could-"

“I guess I did." Sirius shrugged.

“There's got to be some sort of catch or something. Right? There's always a catch. There always has been."

“Nope, no catch." I stared at him, awestruck. “You trying out for quidditch?" he asked.

“No, I'm scared of heights." I said.

“Come on, it'll be fun."

“No."

“We would play mathes against each other."

“No." I thought it over. “Okay."

“Really?" he said.

“Yup. Detention's over." I started to walk away. “See you on the field." I added without looking over my shoulder. That seemed to work out fairly well.

Bellatrix caught me outside the library. “Well?" she asked. “It worked out well." I answered. “Good," she said, “Because if it didn't... well, you could guess." With that, she walked away.

It was going to be a long year.
