After the feast (at which I sat alone at the end of the Ravenclaw  table) I went straight to the dormitories. I didn't even try to find out who my roommates were. I put my long black hair into a braid and went to bed. I woke up early in the morning, ready for class.

Now that I met James and co. I couldn't ignore them. I saw every bone-headed thing they did. I'm quite, but I observe. I saw everything. I knew what rumours were real and which were fake. And I kept to myself about this.

I had two classes with all of them (Divitionation and  History of Magic). It wasn't that bad, they ignored me like everyone else. Except Remus, because he woke up early too and we talked a little. He said hello to me in the hallways- which was a big step up on my social status and surprised most people and half didn't even know me- but that was it. Just another day in my miserable life.

The second day of school, I woke up early as usual and went to the Great Hall to eat a quick breakfast and take a walk around the lake before classes started.

I ran down the stairs as fast as I could which was not very fast because I could've fallen. For breakfast I ate toast and eggs. At the lake the creatures were all asleep so I was left in beautiful silence. The cool air refreshed my mind.

Ravenclaw had herbology with Slytherin. I sat next to Bellatrix Black. I heard nasty things about her, but I never really meet her.

We were put in partners. I was Bellatrix's.

“Hello, Summons." She said in a falsely sweet voice.

“Hello, Bellatrix." I replied. How did she know my name?

“I heard that you are friends with my cousin and his little friends."

“I won't say 'friends'..." I said looking down at the odd plant we were supposed to be studying. I was small and it had a deep purple hue.

“Oh, good. You don't want to get caught up with them." She said 'them' with a special bitterness in her voice.

“What-what's wrong with them." I asked

“They're either not pure bloods or they're blood traitors." She answered like it was obvious. I had heard that about them.

“ So," she leaves closer, "what's your blood status?"

Blood status was the only thing that I had to be proud of according to my mother. “Pure blood." I said confidently.

“Nice. I would offer you to join our group, but..."

I fell into her trap. “But what?" I asked too eagerly.

A smile curled in her lips. “Well, you're a Ravenclaw!" she exclaimed. My face grew red. Lucius Malfoy snickered.

Then, her smile grew wider. “But that's okay." She added. My jaw dropped and so did Malfoy's.

“You're kidding me." I mumbled with narrowed eyes.

“No, not at all. We need, as you might call it, a spy." She smirked.

“What?" I questioned.

“Befriend my cousin and his friend, and tell every juicy, little, detail." Her nails dug into my skin at each word     of 'juicy, little, detail'. I didn't even notice she was touching me.

Was I really desperate enough for friends that I would betray the only people who had ever been kind to me? I guess I was because before I could even think it over, the word “okay" slipped through my lips in a whisper.

For the next week, I avoided the Slytherins as best I could. Thursday morning, Bellatrix caught me.

“Hi. Bellatrix." I muttered.

“Come on, Summons, I'm waiting." She said impatiently.

“I-er-haven't been able to catch them." I said as I not my lip.

Bellatrix groaned in frustration. “Hurry it up." She snapped. I have her a quick nod and hurried off.

History of Magic was right before lunch. I knew I had to make my move then. I was placed between Sirius and James, it was perfect. Within the first fifteen minutes, they started passing notes. Bits of paper were flung across my desk. Finally, one of them landed on my desk.

“Can I have that?" Sirius whispered. I cocked my head, pretending to be mulling over my answer, but I already knew what I was going to do. I opened the note and James slammed his head on the desk.

This is what the note read:

You've got to give up on her.

-Padfoot

But she's so perfect. (with a very poorly drawn heart)

-Prongs

It also had several drawings. For example, a golden snitch, a broomstick, and a a quidditch getting. This was too perfect.

“Who is this perfect girl?" I wrote on the paper. I already knew who it was, the who school did.

Sirius scrawled on the note and tossed out to me. “You." it read with a winky face. I rolled my eyes. He did this with every girl.

“Who is it?" I asked James.

“You know who it is." he replied.

“Yeah, but I want to hear you say it."

“Not gonna happen."

“Oh, really?"

“Yes, really."

“Well I-" I never got to finish because Professor Binns interrupted me. “James, Sirius, Riley, detention." he said in his monotone voice.

'What?!' I thought, I had never gotten a detention. Remus sighed in exasperation and Peter stifled a laugh. I grumbled to myself the rest of class and took notes. What had I gotten myself into?
