Cpt. J.J. Andrews
U.S. Army Base
Cairo, Egypt
Dear J.J.,
The week since we last saw each other has dragged one for what seems like an eternity. I anxiously waited that time to write you this as you asked. How has the first week on base gone?
Your parents and siblings dropped by a couple days ago to visit. They're all so proud of you, as am I. They promised to send you a basket in the near future filled with your favorite candy and the like, so be watching for that. They also said they will write to you once a month but have no permanent schedule for it.
It's great that they elevated you to captain. They finally recognized your skills in reading people and your beautiful strategic brain. It was about time! I hope that means you'll spend most of your time inside the base and nowhere near the awful fighting. What is this war even about again, oil or other such nonsense?
Oh, before I forget. My parents send their well wishes. They may hate what we are but at least they have the courtesy and compassion to want you to make it out of Egypt in one piece. My mother kept me on the phone for hours the day after I dropped you off at the terminal. She kept jabbering on about not "obsessing over you being so far away" and that I should "focus on my work during this time." My cell phone died and saved me from her incessant tirade. I've never been more pleased to watch it shut off.
I miss you so much already. Our home is so quiet without you. I love you J.J., more than there are atoms on all the grains of sand on Earth. I can't wait for my Captain America to come home. I know that you just got there but it is never too soon for you to come back.
Are you and your friend Harold in the same place? Didn't you say he was a captain too? I'm still amazed that you're both captain rank. Your achievements piled up and they finally rewarded you well for them, him as well. If you are stationed with him, let him know I said hi.
Well, I'm sure you're busy and have little time to spare. I love you J.J.! I'll eagerly await your letter. Be safe!
Tim
