Chapter 5
"You were so great in there." I praised George as we walked the hallways. She pressed her hands together and rubbed them, "Really?" She asked as she tentatively looked in my eyes. "Of course! You should've heard what they said after you left the room, I am sure you'd be casted in the play." I assured her as I wrapped my arms around her shoulder and pulled her close to me.
She shook her head with a little smile on her lips, I looked at her face and noticed how a crow 's foot appear on the side of her eyes, and they say that it indicates that the person is genuinely happy.
"Yeah, as if they'd do that. You know how everyone wants to pair you up with Hannah, right?" Oh, Hannah. My new girl friend, I laughed as I heard her brought up her name. "They know she can't even sing Georgie. Why will they cast her as my love interest? Did you hear her awhile ago? I'll tell you even if she's my girl I won't cast her in the play."
"Stop being such a meanie Ollie. She's your girl friend and of course she deserves a little praise in there."
"Meanie Ollie. Hey that rhymes." She said as if she's discovered a cure for aids. I gave out a little laugh, sometimes she acts so adult like and sometimes she just acts like a little kid. Are girls really like this? Up in swings of behavior and moods?
"Yeah that sounds nice, but we should really get going my tummy's churning already."
I grabbed her wrist and dragged her to our cafeteria, but as we walked she took her wrist away from my grasp. I stopped from walking, okay what is the matter with her now? I'm really hungry and I don't really want to deal with the swings she's in.
"I already told you I'll eat under the mango tree, so just buy me a meal, and bring it to me right there." She smiled widely and scurried away from me. Not again this time.
She's such a headache, but in the end I have to deal with her wishes. After I bought a food for the two of us I was obliged to go to the mango tree where she always goes to, the air was warm. The weather was cloudy, but I can still feel the heat.
I saw her figure, sitting under the tree with a book in her hand. But as I walked nearer; I noticed that her eyes were closed. I shook my head as I realized that she is sleeping. Silently, I sat beside her.
I wonder if she's dreaming right now, what could she be dreaming about? Is it about a friend, or about food? A small laugh escaped my lips as I remembered when she told me she dreamed about a giant burger chasing after her, then she saw me and that I rescued her. It was a silly dream, just like a child's.
But I wonder what could it be this time?
Still trying my best not to wake her, I put down the food that I bought silently. I gave out a sigh of relief as I laid my back on the soft grass and smelled the humid soil.
I turned my gaze to her sleeping face, her brown eyes are now covered with her eyes lids with long lashes. She's not perfect, not really as pretty as some girls in this school but a lot of guys chase after her. I wonder, what do they see in my best friend and why can't I see it?
Wait, what did I just thought about? Oliver Reeves cut the crap out.
"Hey." I heard her voice as she disturbed me, her voice a bit low due to the fact that she just woke up. "You know you really look cute when you just woke up." I remarked as I noticed how sleepy her eyes still are. "Cut it off Reeves." She said as she rubbed her eyelids in a circular motion.
"Let's just eat, I'm really hungry." She told me after she yawned; I sat up and took out of food. "Here," I told her as I handed her a burger and a slice of pizza, her favorite. But then instead of giggling and thanking me she was just quiet. I got no reaction from her.
I looked at her with confusion, her face is blank. What could she be thinking of? "Aren't you even going to thank me for the food?" I asked. "Oh, yeah. Thanks." She said as if I popped the bubble surrounding her and let out a forced smile. This girl is hiding something; I looked at her as if I am analyzing every part of her face.
"Cut that out." She said in an annoyed tone, "Are you hiding something from me?" I asked. Then she broke out into a laugh, "Me? I won't hide anything from you, as if I would do that to you?" She smiled, this time it's a smile that you can say a genuine one. "I am just a bit sleepy, don't mind me." Then she munched away with her food.
"Hey Ollie, you know I dreamt about you awhile ago." She remarked as she finished her food. "Is that so? What did I do this time?"
"This time, you are a giant broccoli chasing after some little kids who doesn't want to eat you." She proudly said. Okay, she's getting silly again. "That one's not funny." I said as I shook my head.
"I don't really care, but you know you'd make a good broccoli monster."
"Stop it; it doesn't sound like a compliment."
"But I don't intend to make it one." Then she laughed once more, and suddenly the bell went off indicating that our lunch was over. Thank God I can now get away from George. I stood from the grass and walked away from her.
"Hey Ollie!" She shouted as followed me.
"Meanie Ollie." She said as she followed me back to the hallway. "Stop that George, it's not funny."
"Are you angry because I called you a broccoli monster? That's shallow my dear." She said as she grabbed my hand, then I felt some kind of electricity creep to my skin.
Okay, that's really strange.
We went to a stop, and I took my hand away from hers. Brushing the thought away of what I felt when she held my hand. No, I know I shouldn't feel that thing. George's my friend and it stays like that.
She smiled widely at me and suddenly pulled me to a hug. This time, I felt as if I am burning. I feel my whole face blush, no Oliver.
"Sorry." She said almost in a whisper. "I wouldn't call you names already, so stop being so hot headed." Then she broke away from the hug and said goodbye to me as she headed for the direction of her classroom.
What did I just felt? Does this mean I feel something more for her, or it's just. Ugh. I can't explain it, but I know I shouldn't like her.
Then in that moment an urge to stay away from her struck me, should I? Would that be good? Then I looked at her figure as she walks away, am I feeling something for her already?
Am I falling, I know I shouldn't because I have Hannah and because I am not sure if George likes me in a manner almost every girl in this school does.
