Chapter 9
"Who would you ask out for prom?" Annalisa asked as we sat by the stairs waiting for George. "If George still hasn't got a date then I'd ask her."
It has been days since Hannah broke up with me, and I planned to ditch my prom but my parents insisted that I should go and ask my best friend out.
"But she is your best friend." Annalisa pointed out. "Who cares? I would rather spend my whole night with her than any other girl in this school." Yes, there maybe other girls who want to be with me but I declined every single one of them. Because when I am with her I am the Oliver I really am.
Silly. Sarcastic. Carefree. And most of all I am honest. I am not afraid to hide anything from her because I know she'll accept me and my flaws.
"Hi guys, sorry to keep you waiting." George said as she walked to our direction.
"Hey, how's the meeting?" I asked her as I stood and hugged her. "Boring like the usual." She said as she hugged back.
"George, do you have a date already?" Annalisa interjected as she stood from the staircase, "Date? What for?" She asked as with confusion written in her face as she broke away from the hug.
"Have you forgotten about the prom?" Annalisa asked as if it is such a bewildering thing.
"Oh the prom." She said flatly.
"I am planning to go, but I don't have a date just yet. Even though Wesly Hale has asked me out for the millionth time. I am never going to the prom with him." She said with unnecessary determenation in her eyes.
Good 'ol Wesly Hale. The ever persistent suitor of George Walters. Everybody knows the state my best bud is in, who wouldn't? Ever since the play Wesly has been very vocal of his admiration to her, and of his determination to have her affection. But George wouldn't even budge, she told him to stay away for she's got her attention focused on her studies. But still he kept waiting for her. Poor guy.
"Oliver doesn't have a date either." Annalisa said, did I just saw her wink at me or was it just my imagination?
"Right Oliver?" She said snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah. She's right, so uh could you be my date?" I asked as I felt really nervous.
"Of course Oliver." She said with a radiant smile. "I'd be glad to."
"So its just me who does not have any. But it doesn't matter, I am sure Matt would ask me out." She said as she smiled ruefully.
Annalisa. I know this was her plan. Of course, she has been pushing me to George ever since. I should've known. I don't know why but I am elated by the fact that I'll go to the prom with George.
I wonder how'd she'd look.
"Let's eat I am hungry." I remarked and asked them to go with me to the nearest fast food.
"Your treat?" George asked.
"As if I've got a choice." I said as I shrugged my shoulders.
"That's the spirit." Annalisa cheered. And with that we broke into a laugh.
