Chapter 11

I was welcomed in by her parents and their warms smiles, "George is still in her room, she'd be going down soon." Her mom said as she asked me to seat on their sofa.

"Thank you tita." I said with a smile on my lips. "Here, take this." Tito said as he handed me a dark red necktie. "This would look better on you." I greatfully took it and removed the necktie I am wearing.

"Good evening." I heard George as I was almost done with my necktie. I looked up and saw her wearing a red gown designed to fit her very graceful figure.

Woah. She is dazzling.

"Hey Oliver." She greeted me as if we were the only one in their living room. "You look pretty decent in that suit. I have to be honest with that." She said with a little wink.

"Thank you, you look dazzling. I never thought such a gown would do you justice." I joked.

"Ha! See a lot of jaw would drop later on, and I am telling you they'd want to steal me from your arms." She said as we both laughed.

But jokes aside, she really does look good and I am pretty sure Wesly would envy me tonight.

"Hey, look at your tie." She pointed out as she took my necktie and fixed it for me. Oh. Isn't this quiet uncomfortable? But she smiled as she finished, oh I almost forgot.

"Thank you, and this one is for you." I said as I took from my pocket a small box. She took it and opened it with delight.

"Woah. This corsage is very beautiful. My favorite flower, thank you."

Tito cleared his throat, we both looked at him quizzically. Then he smiled and said, "Both of you should get going. I bet Analisa is already waiting for the both of you."

"Good bye tito, I'll make sure she won't make a mess at the prom." I joked and soon I felt a light punch on my stomach.

"George. Don't be so harsh with me." I said as I faked a frown and but smiled after it.

"Silly." She remarked and soon we bid goodbye to her parents and went to the prom.

And Tito was right, Annalisa was already there. She doesn't seem excited though.

"Annalisa!" George shouted as she ran to her. She looked up from her phone and waved weakly at us. George tackled her into a hug.

"What's the matter?" I asked as I approached the both of them.

"Matt." She said concludingly.

"He's your date, right?" I asked as I searched the crowd for Annalisa's lab partner.

"He ditched me at the very moment we had set foot on this school." She said as tears soon flowed her cheeks. "I hate him and that Bethany." She said silently as her fist clenched tighter.

"Shh. Don't be disappointed, he doesn't deserve a great girl to be his partner anyway." George said in a soothing voice as she held her hand and looked at her eyes.

"There is a great night ahead of us, it doesn't matter if you have a date or not. Who knows maybe you'd find yourself a date." George said with a wink. Annalisa laughed at this.

"There. You look so much better with a smile. Show that Matt you're gonna have a great night with or without him." Annalisa nodded and hugged her tightly.

"Thank you George, you're my bestest friend ever." She replied.

"Bestest?" I asked as my brows went up.

"Shut up Oliver, I don't care." Annalisa smiled as she broke their hug and ruffled my tidy hair.

"Hey!" I said with a jolt and tidied my hair.

"Don't look so crossed. I manned you up to ask her out so don't be such a guy." She said in a low voice as George was soon greeted by her acquaintances.

"I am not being a guy." I said as I felt offended.

You see being called a guy by Annalisa or George means you don't measure up to the standards they have set for a decent male.

And for those who passed the standards, they call those people men.

"I know I owe you this night, I should've known that this was your doing." I said with a grin.

"Yeah, so what? I know you like her and you just can't see it yet. But you know, the both of you suit each other well so take this night as a chance and don't let it slip from you."

"What a speech." I said with a laugh, I turned my gaze back to her and caught her staring at me. I smiled at her, she grinned back.

"Uh oh. Wesly is on the move! Go get George!" Annalisa said as she shoved me off to George's direction with panic in her voice.

"Don't push, I can take care of him." And with that I excused myself from the people blocking my way towards her.

"See you don't have a date, and so am I so please? The prom will start soon." I heard Wesly's voice as I neared them.

"I have a date Wesly." She said with a firm voice. "It's me." I said as I finally reached her hand. "Oliver." He said with a strained voice.

"Of course, you're best friends? If I am not mistaken?" He asked as he eyed me from head to toe as if sizing me up.

"Yeah. And what is the matter with that?" I asked as I wrapped my arms around her waist. I felt her stiffened.

I don't think this is good.

"I see. Have a great night." And with that he left us.

"I'm sorry." I said and let go of her waist as soon as he was out of sight. "I shouldn't have done that."

Then she smiled at me, "Don't worry, it's okay. I know why you did that. Thank you."

I looked at her, her eyes seems twinkling at that moment. Was it just my imagination? I took her hand as we lined up for our entance in the ballroom.
