I couldn't take it anymore, my parents were putting so much pressure on me. Not only were they wanting me to show the pack that I was ready to lead by taking charge of the fight between the magical races, but they also expected me to find my Luna.
Most wolves find their mate by the time they reach 25. I'm now 26 and despite my parents best efforts, there's been no sign of them. I've been introduced to every single person in our pack and the surrounding ones.
I'm starting to think that there's something wrong with me, or maybe there's no one out there for me. Most meet their mate when one day something draws them to each other but nothing like that has happened to me yet.
I just needed to get away for a while and clear my head. So I ran.
Running around in my wolf form was a good way to forget about everything. I didn't know where I was going, I just trusted my instincts.
Before I knew it, night had fallen and I stopped for a second to take in the evening air.
Suddenly I felt something inside me telling me to continue on. I let go and let my wolf side pull me where I needed to go. I noticed an icy blue glow in the distance and my wolf was heading towards it.

Eventually I reached a familiar clearing that I used to visit to escape the pack and I shifted back into human form.
The glowing light seemed to be floating in the middle of the clearing. As I carefully got closer to the light, I finally realised what it was. There was a girl right in the centre of it.
The instant I was right beside it, the light disappeared. Before I could even think, my instincts kicked in and I caught her as she fell.
She had beautiful ombré pink hair and olive skin. She would have looked pretty had it not been for the large bruise on one side of her neck and jaw.
Her clothes weren't fitting for the cold weather because all she had on were pyjamas and although she seemed unconscious, I could feel her shivering.
Though I couldn't explain it, I felt a strong urge to protect her even if I knew nothing about her.

As I didn't have my clothes, there was nothing I could wrap around her to keep her warm so I did the only thing I could think of. I held her close to me so that the heat of my body would keep her warm. The perks of being an alpha wolf means that I'm always warm, so I knew that this way she wouldn't freeze.
"Miss? If you can hear me, my Name is Jason. I promise nothing bad will happen to you whilst you're in my care" she didn't reply, she only opened her eyes and placed one hand on my cheek with what I guessed was the last of her strength, before closing her eyes again.
I decided that it would be best to head home, if nothing else it would provide more warmth for her. As I walked, I could sense that my wolf knew something that I didn't but I also knew that he was waiting for the right moment to tell me.
It took some time before I reached my home, but by then she'd stopped shivering. I could feel her practically clinging to me as she drifted in and out of consciousness.
As I walked up the back porch, I could sense my family inside. I walked straight inside with her still in my arms.
The instant my father saw me he stood straight up and was about say something before he noticed the girl.
"What is that?"
"A girl" I answered sarcastically as I continued towards the stairs but my dad stood in front of me.
"Why did you bring her here?" He almost growled
"She needed help"
"Who knows what danger she could bring, just look at her! You should have left her where you found her!"
He'd clearly seen the bruise but his words only caused me to growl back.
"Then she'd have died!"
"That is not my concern!"
"She's my mate!" My wolf side spoke up before I could even think of a response.
My dads jaw just dropped.
He was clearly shocked but this gave me chance to slip past him.
Once I was upstairs, I carefully laid the girl on my bed. I went to walk away but she'd reached out and took hold of my hand. Her eyes locked mine and I could sense that she wanted me to stay. As much as it made me want to stay right there with her, I was still stark naked.
"I'll be right back, I'm only going to get dressed" I grabbed some clothes from the dresser before heading to the bathroom to change.
Once I'd finished, I was surprised to find my parents waiting for me.
"Jason, what are you thinking!" my dad yelled
"She needed my help dad, I couldn't leave her there!"
"I don't care if you think she's your mate! Bringing her here could be putting our pack in danger!"
As he continued to yell at me, I heard movement downstairs. I could sense more than one person so I knew instantly it wasn't just my sister.
"Who did you order here in the middle of the night?" I grumbled, sensing that they were part of our group.
They began walking up the stairs before my father spoke again.
"This is for your own good, as well as ours." His voice was low and level as the men passed behind him and headed towards my room.
"What are they doing? You can't hurt her, I'll never forgive you if you do!" I growled, trying to push past him. I heard her scream before they came back out of my room holding her hostage. The fear was so evident in her eyes as she practically pleaded with me to help.
"Don't hurt her! Where are you taking her!" I fought against my father, trying to reach my mate. It was only my mothers voice that managed to calm me down.
"Please son, calm down. This behaviour won't help anyone."
I backed up slightly before speaking again. "Please, let me go with her. I told her I'd protect her so if you want to question her or whatever else you have planned for her, please at least let me be there for her. She's my mate, surely you two must understand how I feel" I pleaded with my parents, hoping to get through to my father.
"Fine, if that's what you want." He grumbled, clearly slightly annoyed at the point I'd made. "Guys wait a second, my son has decided that he will go with her"
The men stopped at the foot of the stairs as my parents led me down to them. I lifted the girl into my own arms, holding her bridal style as the guys led us out.
They'd tied her hands together to stop her from struggling but she still managed to cling to me again.
"I'm so sorry" I whispered down to her though the gag on her mouth prevented her from replying.
We were led to the pack's base house which had been intended for keeping our enemies for questioning. It had never been used, until now I guess.
