Sylvie's P.O.V.
I woke up snuggled into something warm, I could feel a heartbeat so I quickly realised that it must be Jason.
I couldn't remember how I ended up with him. Reason and logic said not to trust him, but my wolf side already trusted him completely. The last thing I remembered was my family home being stormed by a group of rogues. My father cast an enchantment on me and my sister and the next thing I remember was being in Jason's arms.
My wolf was as strong as that of any other werewolf, and she told me I was safe, my father's spell had taken most of my strength though so even if I wanted to I couldn't fight.
I could feel my wolf trying to get closer to him, so when he pulled me closer, she settled down.
One thought came through, "mate" and suddenly I knew I could trust him. He was my mate, but I didn't really know who he was. I barely knew anything about him but at the same time it felt as though we'd been friends my entire life.
After our talk last night I at least knew that he was ok with who I am, he hadn't rejected me at least after finding out that I was only half wolf.
I leaned back slightly to check if he was awake, he smiled back before speaking,
"So someone's finally awake?" I couldn't help but smile back,
"Yeah, how long have you been up?"
"Long enough, but I didn't want to disturb you so I let you sleep"
I smiled sweetly up at him for the gesture, but then a thought crossed my mind. It must have shown on my face as he quickly asked, "what's wrong?"
"I remember your father promising that they'd return to question me this morning,"
"Don't worry about it, I'll protect you as best as I can. He'll get over it one day. He has to" he said, refusing to meet my eyes as he said the last part.
"He has to get over it?" I couldn't help but ask.
"Yes. Sylvie, what do you know about a wolf's instincts? Or more specifically what happens when they find their mate?" He looked straight at me, I could feel his hope and fear all at the same time.
"I know that they feel the connection instantly, and there's nothing that would be able to get in between them as all they practically see is each other." I looked back at him, a soft, unsure smile on my lips.
"I also know that if a person is rejected by their mate, then it can be one of the most painful experiences."
"Then my father has to learn to like you because..."
"Because we're mates, aren't we Jason? That's why you fought against them to help me isn't it?"
"Yes Sylvie," he didn't look at me again, clearly afraid I'd reject him. I wanted to reassure him, but first I had to wrap my head around a few things first.
"But I thought when you find your mate that you would be overcome by passion?"
"Only if the mate is in heat, otherwise you just feel drawn to each other. It's not as bad but I admit I've been holding off, until I knew you felt the same"
"I do Jason, it's just, well I'm not sure what I should do in this type of situation. To be completely honest I've never been in a relationship before. I've never even been told what happenes when you find your mate." To my surprise, he smiled.
"Then Sylvie, we can take it slow. I'd like the chance to capture your heart as well as that of your wolf if we manage to get out of here. But for now, can I kiss you?"
I smiled and nodded. My heart hammered in my chest as he closed the distance between us, pressing our lips together and stealing my first kiss. He clearly had more experience than me as he led the way.
It was like fireworks had been set off and I felt my wolf fighting to take control. I let go slightly and brought my hands up to his neck. I could sense his wolf fighting to be in control too as he bit down slightly on my bottom lip. He pulled away from me, looking a little nervous. "Ok so I take back what I said, it's not just when a mates in heat"
I couldn't help but laugh at his words.
"But we should talk more before we get too caught up in things especially since we aren't in private?"
"I agree," he smiled again as he sat up, "so Sylvie, what happened to you? Why were you in that clearing? Where are your family? You said you were in hiding?"
I felt my smile drop,
"We were attacked by the rogues, they went straight for me and my sister"
"Is that why you have that bruise?" He almost looked in pain himself, as though he could feel what happened.
"Yes, they hit me when I stood in front of my sister to protect her. But my parents fought back, mother held them off while my father took us upstairs and cast an enchantment on us both"
"What kind of enchantment?" Fear showed clearly in his eyes.
"I don't know, that's the last thing I remember before I woke up in your arms. I don't know where my parents and my sister are or what's happened to them" he cupped my cheek in his hand, clearly trying to comfort me. It made me feel safer.
"Who were these rogues?"
"I don't know exactly, I just know that they were wolves unlike any I've seen before"
"If they've been attacking other races then no wonder they started an uprising, maybe my parents don't know about this? Sylvie, this could be the answer I've been looking for, this information could help end the fight." He suddenly looked hopeful as he smiled over at me.
"What do you mean Jason?"
"My family lead the packs right? So if I can get them to listen to me, then we could use this to unite the magical races to fight against the real problem. They're all too busy fighting each other to actually see the real issue"
"But how can we stop that?"
"I don't know just yet, but Sylvie, would you stand beside me?" His eyes showed his fear again as he clearly expected me to say no.
Logic said to run and hide, but my wolf had full trust in him, he was my mate so I'd gladly stay beside him, regardless of the consequences.
"I'd be happy to" I smiled genuinely over at him,
He leaned forward again and I closed the remaining distance.
This kiss was more passionate than the first, he wasn't holding back any more. He carefully ran his tongue along my bottom lip, asking for entrance. At first I stayed strong, teasing him slightly but I soon gave in. I was in heaven, I could feel the tension starting to build inside me as I started to want more from my mate. I pulled back slightly to see a hunger in his eyes, as he tried to calm down.
"Sylvie... thank you... I ... I almost lost control there" he explained, looking a bit embarrassed.
"Me too, but I want to save it for a better time,"
"I completely understand, in fact, I'd like to take you on a date first, do this properly, you're my mate and I want to treat you like the princess you're going to be. I want you to feel special." He smiled down at me with a clear expression of love. "Especially since I have the honour of being your first" he smirked.
I smiled back before kissing him on the cheek.
