Y/Ns POV
"Hurry home, I don't want dinner to get cold before you get back." Grayson texted. Today was your six month anniversary and he had been trying out new recipes for your special evening.
"I have just one more errand to run, then I'll be home." You replied. You finished your errands, then hurried home as fast as you could.
You pulled up to the house and there were bright lights and music coming from the backyard. You went inside the house and found Grayson standing in the kitchen.
"Hey babe." He smiled as you walked over to him. He pulled you into his arms and pressed his lips to yours.
"I missed you today. I was really hoping we could've spent all day together." You said, resting your chin on his shoulder.
"It's okay, we're together now. And I'm glad you're here, dinner is almost ready." He smiled. He took the main dish out of the oven and plated it up for the two of you. "C'mon, its such a nice night, let's eat outside." He said. You nodded and followed him outside and sat at the table as Grayson turned down the music so you could hear each other better.
"I made a special playlist for tonight. It's full of songs that remind me of you, songs that we listen to all the time together, songs that have good memories for us." He said as he sat down next to you.
"I love it. And I love you." You said, leaning over to kiss him. You got started on dinner, talking and laughing with Grayson, having an incredible night.
Once you finished dinner and cleaned up the kitchen, you and Grayson sat outside on the patio, watching the stars and listened your playlist.
"(Y/N), I need to ask you something." Grayson said.
"What's up?" You said, turning to face him.
"Well, we've been together for six months now. I think it's time to go public. What do you-"
"Absolutely not." You interrupted.
"What? Why not?" He asked, clearly already upset.
"Because I don't think it's time yet." You said, getting up and going back into the house.
"I think it's way past time. So give me another excuse." Grayson said, his voice raising.
"First of all, that wasn't an excuse, it's a good reason. I just don't think it's time, okay?" You said. Grayson just stared at the floor, letting out a heavy sigh. "Baby, I don't wanna argue about this, especially not tonight. Can't you just let it go?" You asked.
"No, I don't want to just let it go. You not wanting to go public, and tell my fans about us makes me feel like you don't love me and don't want to be with me." He said.
"Grayson, you know that's not true." You said as you felt the tears start to fall.
"Well?" He raised an eyebrow at you. You stood there staring at him, not able to find anything to say.
"I can't even deal with this right now." You shook your head and went up to your bedroom, shutting the door behind you. You flopped down on the bed and felt yourself really start to cry.
How were you supposed to tell Grayson the real reason you weren't ready to tell his fans about your relationship? How were you supposed to tell him that you were absolutely terrified of how they would react? You were so scared of the impending hate, and you weren't ready to deal with it. He loved his fans, and for him to find out that you were scared of them would kill him.
* * *
You woke up the next morning, not even remembering that you fell asleep. The bed was empty beside you, so you figured Grayson was already awake.
"Gray, are you down here?" You called out as you walked downstairs. You made your way to the living room and saw him asleep on the sofa. You went over and sat next to him, and he woke up as he felt your movement.
"Mmmm, morning babe." He mumbled, replacing the pillow beneath his head with your thigh.
"Why didn't you come up to bed last night?" You asked, running your fingers through his hair.
"You were upset with me and I wanted to give you some space." He said.
"I wasn't upset with you, just the situation. Grayson, we need to talk about last night." You said as he sat up.
"No, if you don't want to do it, that's fine. I don't want to pressure you." He said.
"It's not that I don't want to, it's just," you let out a loud sigh, "I'm scared to."
"Scared? Scared of what?" He asked.
"Your fans. What if they don't accept me?" You asked.
"Baby, you know they will. We've been friends for a long ass time, and they've seen you in videos. They love you." Grayson said, wrapping his arm around you.
"Yeah, but they've only seen me as a friend. What if they don't accept me as a girlfriend? I don't think I can deal with that hate if it comes towards me."
"(Y/N), if that does happen, then I'll be here right by your side, and you know that. We'll go through it together." He said, kissing your forehead. "Look, I love my fans. But I love you too. And if you don't want to go public, then that's fine. Now that I know your reasoning behind it, then I won't pressure you. I understand now that just because I'm ready, that doesn't mean that you are. I love you, and I need us to both be ready before taking this step."
"I love you too, and after having thought about it last night, and talking about it with you right now, I think it'll be okay." You said.
"Are you sure?" He asked, and you nodded. He pulled his phone out of his pocket, and you helped him decide on a picture to post. You eventually chose one from one of your first dates and he typed up a caption.
"I want to reintroduce you all to (Y/N). We've been friends for years, and I somehow sacked up and asked her out on a date. This picture was taken during one of our first dates. It was such an incredible night, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Since then, I've asked her to be my girlfriend, and last night was our six month anniversary. I hope that you all can come to love her the same way I do. ♥️"
"And it's posted." He said as the comments start to come in. He pulled you into his arms and fell back on the sofa, so you were now lying on his chest. "Happy six month anniversary." He smiled, kissing you.
"Happy anniversary." You laughed.
