Part 2: Children of Fate
Celica lay on her stomach on the soft grass of Sacae as she read the whole story. She could see the jet black hair of the young lad beside him, dark locks hanging in front of his face, blending with the moonlight making it shone like silver. The boy looks to her, dark green eyes staring at her. She could tell that Karna was analyzing her. Trying to read her mind, this made her think what he was trying to know, but she didn't care.
"I never get tired of this story", she smiled to him
The boy pause for a moment, then replied, "I can see that", he now rotated his body to flatten his back on the ground and round up his arms behind his head. "We have already repeated that story three times since you came here five days ago", he grins.
"There are some parts of the story, that's missing. I wish I would know what happen"
"Like what?" Karna looking sideways to her
"You know... to Airi and Arthur. I wonder whether they end up together or if they have an heir. I also want to know where King Arthur's blade is, wish I could wield it myself"
Karna laughed a little, "Really?" he asked teasingly
"What? Hey! I know I'm not as strong as Arthur or you, but just watch I will be the wielder of Caliburn in no time", Celica shouted to him and pouted.
Karna burst into laughing while seeing her yelling like a spoiled child, "Yeah, yeah just don't cry princess Celica or maybe baby Celica would do better"
"Silly" was all Celica could say, as she punched her fist to the boy's chest, which he didn't even seem to feel. This is the reason, why Karna was her only 'true friend'. He didn't care about her social status. He didn't seem bothered to talk normally to a royal. For him she's just Celica a usual girl who wants to talk a lot. She felt so comfortable staying with him. She now lays her head in his chest.
This made the boy gulped in surprised, even knowing the princess for years, this is the first time they had very close contact. He froze, guessing his face could overwhelm Caliburn's fire. But he just lay there. He gently removes the auburn streaks of Celica's hair as it swayed with the breeze in his face, and then softly puts his hand in her head caressing it.
"Karna, your heart beats so fast"
"Wha- whatt? I think that's normal"
"Your body is also so warm, especially your hand"
"It's just cold"
Celica look up to him, the color of her golden-orange irises enhance brightly under the rays of moon. She recalled the time when they first met. Five years ago. They were both seven, her father took her with him for political and diplomatic purposes to Sacae. It was the first time Celica had visited the plains, its ocean of grasses, and the hills of flowers was so overwhelming compared to the massive castles and overpopulated cities she have visited in other nations. The scenery itself tells of happiness and freedom, a thing Celica didn't know if she would have.
As they arrived at the capital, lying in the highest hill of the region, she wondered where the palace of this domain rest for what lays before her was huge tents and an enormous house made of wood, that was when the high King of the plains open the ten feet door and greet them with utmost hospitality. The king was not that majestic in look, he only wore a small silver round crown above his head and was dressed in light armor, unlike other rulers who dressed robes made of gold and diamonds. This piqued her interest how the people live here, so quiet and peaceful, she started to wish that her home would be like this.
Afternoon came. The sun so high but the cool breeze seem to negate the heat it emanates. Celica went to the gardens escorted by her two maids. The gardens here look so natural, the land covered with grass and different kind of flowers bloom everywhere. She could see blue, white and violet flowers she saw in books that can only be found here. As she made her way in the middle a voice broke the silence of the gentle wind.
